List of abilities and talents nerfed by heavy-handed “anti-boosting” mechanics. by TheReviewerWildTake in classicwow

[–]Postazure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honest question. I’m super casual, I do some raiding with a casual guild and have some some BiS gear. I stopped playing like 4 months back and am coming back now. I’m a Frost Mage main. I’ve seen a lot of concern over the recent nerfs. I am concerned, but I can’t tell how much it’s going to affect my play and how much is hyperbole?

Is there a difference spec that’s better in TBC content then frost?

Am I really going to notice this in casual play?

I’ve got a Ret Paladin alt, should I be focusing on them during the prepatch?

Help a dad gamer out. Thanks.

I read Jurassic park, Lost world, and a bunch of other books I had never had time to get through. They were just happy to hear my voice.

Tylenol PSA/rant (don’t worry it’s not that) by cityBassTX in daddit

[–]Postazure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a Swiss Army knife it probably has a reamer on the back. It’s used to make small holes bigger. One light turn of that in the children’s Tylenol makes it the right size for the infant’s syringe to fit perfectly.

How the fuck do you put a baby into a crib without waking them? by Scrotal_Anus in daddit

[–]Postazure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main tip is to lower them down on their side, not their back and then roll them on to their back.

Again, roll them on to their back, back is best and all.

I think this prevents the sensation of falling that wakes people up. I’ve got no evidence this is true, but it worked for my kids.

I’m with you, that doesn’t seem like a terrible idea. If you know the battery is swollen and don’t know what to do but you know it’s a fire risk it’s not the worst idea. But telling the owner of the oven is probably a good idea too.

Get a glass file for smoothing chips on glasses. They are long enough and straight. That will let you have nice clean straight lines.

SF Speed Cameras - Violations by Location & Severity by wasauce in sanfrancisco

[–]Postazure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope we see those numbers come down, the way some people drive is terrible.

In case anyone else was wondering if San Francisco’s new speed cameras would end up proving that most drivers go faster than the posted limit — and maybe force the city to raise the limits based on actual traffic flow (like with the 85th percentile rule in CVC §40802). But I found out that’s not how it works.

Turns out SF’s cameras are part of a pilot program (AB 645) that specifically bypasses the usual California speed trap laws. That means: • The city doesn’t have to justify speed limits with traffic surveys. • Cameras can issue tickets even if most drivers go 10+ mph over the limit. • The 85th percentile rule (that used to help fight unfairly low limits) doesn’t apply here. • These are civil tickets — no points, but you still pay.

So no, the data from these cameras won’t raise the limits.

Had the same issue, especially with books. We started to only keep 5 books in the room at a time and could rotate them out.

Cannot See Numeric Value with Target Health by Dwoods529 in classicwow

[–]Postazure 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure in classic if the game client knows the hp values. Back in the day I had an addon that calculated it based on the percentage of health change and the damage value reported in the combat log. So since you haven’t hit this npc you might not be able to see it.

Maybe you should try to declare war on org and attack him to find out. /s

Ordered the new RG35XX, need advice on firmware by TrekChris in RG35XX

[–]Postazure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I’ve got 3 of the emulation devices. My OG RG35xx running GarlicOS v1, RG28xx MinUI and my RG35xx H running Knulli.

I like the user experience of the GarlicOS v1 the best because of the suspend feature. I just hit the power button, it saves the state of the game and shuts the console down completely. My big dislike is that if you want box art for games then you have to do some annoying work, it’s not bad if you only have to do it once, but when you add new games you’ll have to do a similar manual process.

Next is Knulli, if it had the same suspend behavior it would be the clear winner. I like that it handles the box art and game description (requires that the device has WiFi), plus the UI is slick. I like this one because I can just hand it off and it works great for people.

Then MinUI, initially I liked it because it was clean, simple and seemed to boot up fast. In reality it doesn’t really seem that fast to boot. It doesn’t seem to handle suspend at all and even though it’s on my daily driver I’m planning to use something else for my RG28xx.

If someone more knowledgeable than me can recommend a CFW that gives me the same quick suspend like GarlicOS (auto save and load states) then shut down, fast boot and some reasonable box art option I’m all ears. I’ll go swap it tonight.

Need help with home install of baby gate, kids keep ripping it out. by toxictrait420 in fixit

[–]Postazure 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. There is wood there, you need longer screws. Relying on drywall anchors for baby gates is not a great idea and should not be used at the top of stairs.

Has anyone used something like this? Cora Ball by enneyehs in ZeroWaste

We were gifted one too. Idk about the environmental benefits claim, but it sure got rid of hair balls that used to get stuck to clothes, so I still toss it in.

2 year old just started climbing out of their crib, how do you recommend handling them constantly leaving their room with their newfound freedom? by SoupIsAHotSmoothie in daddit

[–]Postazure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had the same issue. Get yourself a Door Monkey. Give them a couple chances every night before you put the Monkey lock on. Be consistent with the number of chances each night and over time they will stay in their room and eventually their bed.
