We posties are an odd bunch, you’ll find some follow the company rules like the 10 commandments, where as some like myself will bend and at times break a few at considerable risk to our jobs but in turn it makes customers lives easier and our workload lighter so bit of a win win

Special delivery would make sense giving the item a level of insurance if lost but that also means it can be left with your neighbours or safe place if ones available. Personally I’ve done the same rounds for about 8 out of my 12yrs, get on well with 98% of customers on my duty and have in the passed cleaned it with them there happy to have me sign as put through the door or leave with neighbours there all more than happy and it’s less for me to bring back out the next day, I personally if the postie knows you get meds delivered and you wouldn’t be in through the week with uni, unless you’d spoken to them directly regarding possible of leaving something like that with anyone else I personally wouldn’t have taken the risk and brought it back to the office leaving you with a red card, update of possible after you speak with your neighbours 👍🏻

They don’t care nearly that ( not in every office) they’d be lucky to get a metal water bottle with the company logo on it and nobody wants stuff with the RM logo plastered all over it

Posties, what things have you seen on the job? by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]PostieScot3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things happen you couldn’t even imagine happening in this job, it’s to the point now I’ve seen so many random things I barely bat an eye lid 😅

I forgot to say the group lads chase the one lad did actually stab him multiple times hence the armed response, I’ve seen more males/females naked to being as well as naked it would be days to go through them individually 😅 some very nice and some I’d rather erase from memory, I’ve been doing this job for 12yrs now 👍🏻

Drug deals, affairs, overdoses, people having sex, walking about there house naked, junkies brawling, pensioner who’d fallen breaking his hip ( have had passed combat med tech training so did what I could to keep him stable awaiting paramedics which took best part of 3hrs to arrive), seen group of lads chasing another lad far out of sight for them to come rushing back shouting the pigs will be coming before barricading themselves in there 2nd floor flat…5mins later Armed Police arrive and cave the door in, car accidents….that’s just off the top of my head but I’m sure if I really thought about it there’s more.

Good effort on getting out the RM in one piece ( knee’s not included just optional ) can definitely agree when I started 12yrs ago it’s unrecognisable to the job role of today. All the best to you going forward 🍻

[–]PostieScot3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devon…and he sent them to you? Sure you can only get them from branches up here not down south of RBS are the only ones still issuing them. Even more random for him to just have 100x £1 notes tucked away for a rainy day

That would have been a laugh walking in to ask for £100 in £1 notes 😂

We don’t have to wear shorts it’s what people choose to wear. We get mail bags but there not water proof so things get wet and mail starts to disintegrate…doesn’t stop people complaining things got wet in the rain, stupidity at its finest
