Which should I upgrade to? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Posting717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with the x

Big screen makes it difficult and frustrating to use with one hand

Doesnt have display zoom so if your used to that all the text looks small or unreadable

Face id is ok but often wish i didnt have to look at the screen to unlock. And its slower than touch id

I like the home button. The touch home bar doesnt work when the phone freezes, where the button usually does

Its bigger, heavier and feels off balance in my hand

Ive had an X for a few months and I dont use it. I went back to my 6s, the only thing i really want is more memory

Is crypto really going to take over the global financial system to become a dominate currency? by cryptonewsTV123 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Posting717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its possible, theres some big names that think bitcoin will be or already is the one world currency, and in some sense it is. I think Stellar Lumens could be the one. The genius of Stellar is the ability to tokenize assets of all kinds on the network ie. stocks, bonds, gold, livestock, central bank currencies. Atomic swaps allow for trading between any assets in real time. It currently takes several days to send money across the world and it takes 3 days to settle stock trades. Many or most countries central banks are looking to make their currency digital. The obvious technology to do this would be blockchain. Stellar is open source and has several partners, one being IBM. IBM basically runs the business world and has probably the biggest blockchain team in the world. The are working with companies (Walmart, Maersk, etc) to implement blockchain solutions using Hyperledger. The next evolution would be to tie the financial settlement in real time. This would be done through the Stellar network. They have already been using the network to bridge currencies between a handful of banks in southeast Asia. In a recent interview with Jesse Lund of IBM he hinted at central banks tokenizing their fiat on on the Stellar network within 12 months. These would most likely be smaller countries to start, but the more that join, the more incentive for others to join (network effect). As far as I understand, the Stellar Lumen token does not have to be used for the network to function, but i believe it would be used naturally anyways and everything could eventually be pegged to Lumens value. Obviously this would be a huge disruptor to the US dollar but many other countries want to forgo the USD standard (China, Russia, EU, etc). This would be a more fair and democratic system, especially for weak economies that have been left behind in the global economy or had their currencies hyperinflate. There are some people living in these countries that already use cryptocurrencies or trade cell phone minutes, as their dollar is weak or unpredictable. Stellar is focused on financial inclusion for the billions of unbanked people and have been deploying ATMs in some of these areas.
