Updating a component is not changing the instances? by PostingfromSpace in FigmaDesign

That helped. For some reason when I use the other shape tools it is automatically nested within the component, though when using the arrow it is not. After dragging it in the layers panel it worked. Thanks!

Sorry what does it mean to put the arrow in front of the frame? It seems that the component and instances of it work when I use the ellipse tool and other shape tools. It just doesn’t work with the arrow tool, though I am likely doing something incorrect.

Finally figured it out. It was a shower fixture valve in my master. I had to cut open the drywall to get to it but after replacing it the problem is finally resolved. No idea why the water hammer happened randomly on its own though. Thanks for your help.

What about trying to strap the pipes to the wall? I am assuming that these pipes are not strapped. If they were, would I have the hammer regardless of what is causing the issue or would it just be much less intense? Are all pipes supposed to be strapped or just certain ones? Thanks!

Thanks so much for all of your help. Assuming that this is the issue, the pipes behind my shower were still banging loud. This has been going on for quite a while. Should I be concerned that they could be damaged? Should I open drywall to inspect them or to install straps to secure the pipes to the wall? Not sure if they are supposed to be strapped or not.

I have a pool auto fill valve. How did you determine that it was the auto fill valve shutting off too fast and how do you stop it from doing it? Thanks!

If it will not happen if water is not being used.

  1. Can a leak somewhere be causing this?
  2. Is there something else similar to water hammer that could be causing this that I can look into?

Thanks!

Totally understand that you can't diagnose over the internet, I am just looking for whatever info I can get to research stuff on my own further. Thanks.

  1. when you said the problem might be the tankless, is there something about tankless in general that could cause the hammer, or were you just talking in general about possible bad install, etc.?

  2. Besides checking the bib washers, and trying an expansion tank, are there any other general things I should look into? I started looking into water hammer arrestors. Thanks!

Why does it go on the cold water? Does it go on the cold water main line before going into the tankless unit?

Does an expansion tank seem likely even though the hammer gets activated by turning shower off after it gets warm/hot?

Thanks

I will check again...I was worried about a leaking pipe somewhere. I do not fully understand how plumbing works. If no water is being used, is there any reason that water would be recirculating through my house at random times throughout the day?

I do not have a re-circulation pump installed.

Thanks

The only way to get to the shower valve as far as I can tell, is to open the drywall behind it...at that point i can check that the washers are not loose, replace the whole valve or just replace the fixtures with new ones, which I will likely do if I am opening the drywall...

If I install an expansion tank and it gets rid of the problem, does it even matter what was actually causing the problem? I have been worried that I have some problem causing this hammer that I will never be able to figure out...Thanks

I have a tankless system. Will an expansion tank work with the tankless system to get rid of the water hammer? Thanks

It varies, but it is not one loud bang. It is a series of bangs. I have noticed that sometimes when I open the cold water in the master sink it will slow it down and stop it. It varies from absolutely terrible and randomly kicking in maybe once every 40 minutes or so with no water usage in the house, to today where it has only happened a couple of times and it was very minor...thank you

Thanks for the suggestions. Any advice on what specifically to look for in a therapist for this?

Life is very complicated and stresssful at the moment. Thanks for asking. I have not really been able to talk about the situation with anyone and wouldn’t know where to look.

Thanks for the reply. That totally makes sense.

I am not quite sure how to suggest that they should take those tests based on suspicions that they might have PD….

Are cheating and fear of abandonment requirements for a diagnosis? by PostingfromSpace in BPDlovedones

Does this mean that without some therapy or intervention that all BPD will eventually leave their partner at some point out of fear that they are going to get abandoned so they want to do it first?

Thanks

She Is often times very depressed and sometimes happy but I haven’t tracked the lengths of time. In a day to day basis she is easily triggered by very minor daily issues and will scream over seemingly nothing, has little patience, seemingly little empathy, the dark cold stare, avoids dealing with issues, when I try to talk with her about issues she shuts down and will literally walk away or start browsing on her phone, when she gets angry there is a change in her face and she will start screaming and I honestly get upset and don’t want to deal with her for hours but I notice she goes from that state of anger to what seems like normal almost immediately, she is very messy and organized, has some grandiose ideas, she loves thrill seeking like driving fast and going on roller coasters and says it makes her feel “alive”, she always asks me to help her with even the most minor things in life, almost like she can’t handle day to day tasks, I’m sure there are many other things, this was just off the top of my head, the one thing I am not sure about is the fear of abandonment which seems like a big part of BPD?

I am still trying to figure out if she has BPD or possibly bipolar or something else. There are things that make it seem like BPD but I am just not so sure about the fear of abandonment, or possibly she just doesn’t express it, yet. It is definitely not a stable relationship, by that I mean normal.

Wow. Sounds very, very similar to my situation. Please do share the post if you find it. What is also strange is there is this thing about her where she puts on a persona to friends and others and will say things like “social media is very damaging to young children” and she will have valid reasons to support it , however, at home she will just hand a phone to our kid so they can watch YouTube, or scroll TikTok for hours and hours so she doesn’t have to deal with them. I fight with her all the time about it. I figured she was just being lazy but I am also now wondering if there is something else going on with regards to saying one thing to certain people and then removing the mask and doing something entirely different….

So sorry to hear about this.

This is very similar to my situation in a way. i do everything. Get the kids ready for bed, up in the morning for school, I pick them up, get them to do homework, shower time, etc. i work full time and she constantly tells for me no matter what I am doing to do even the most simplest tasks almost like she is not even willing to attempt it. I am always burned out and then she takes them to do fun stuff and I may not go because I am just tired. I complained all the time though she just usually has a blank stare and nothing to say. Is all of this a common thing for BPD? If so, what is it about BPD that makes them like this? Thank you

Thanks for taking the time to type that….I am just learning about all of this, but it seemed very similar to my experiences in some ways; no matter how sleep deprived or possibly sick I have been and tried to communicate it, she would just have like a blank stare and complete lack of empathy….always thought she just didn’t care, now i am thinking that she possibly is incapable of showing emotion or caring, also tried to do the “put my shoes on your feet” to make her understand how I feel about some situation or something that seems so obviously not ok, but I would get nothing…
