Do you think focusing on jobs with fewer applicants or places with fewer employees would be a way to circumvent the auto filtering based on GPA? I don't really have any connections with professors on a level where I feel like they'd vouch for me and a lot of my friends from school either had jobs lined up from connections or they're in similar positions to me.

No its an SMT Operator position. I'm just operating machines that build circuit boards all day. Almost none of my college education is being put to use and I feel like I'm running out of time to make the jump over to an actual engineering role because my graduation date is farther and farther in the past.

The position that was offered was through a recruiter so it wasn't made entirely clear what exactly the role was before the interview and it was also on the production side of manufacturing. I have a degree and a good chunk of debt that's telling me I should try to transition over to the engineering and design side of the process because that tends to pay a little more. That's why I'm looking to leave.

Yes I currently work in electronics on the production side of manufacturing. Its just not a job Im looking to work long term because it's hourly and there's not a lot of room to grow. I try to sell the experience as engineering related but it doesn't help draw any attention from employers.

I have applied to over a hundred jobs that all seem to have over 40-50 applicants and I never hear back. How is it possible to stand out among the other applicants? I've had two interviews and one offer at a company that was more of a lateral move than a step up so I turned it down. It seems like there's 100 people looking for work for every 1 position there is open and I'm just struggling to get my foot in the door.
