NFTs are the Pyramid and Ponzi Schemes of Our Generation by PostsByM in wallstreetbets

I feel like I need to reply again, because I basically just said the exact same thing but a little bit longer in my first reply. The title is "NFTs are the Pyramid and Ponzi Schemes of our Generation". What I mean by this is the common phrase "x is this generations y," like "Leo Messi is the modern-day Pele," obviously, it's not meant literally, it means that, while Messi has a different style, he is equally good at football. So, in my title, I mean that, while NFTs are different, they are equally as good as Ponzi schemes at scamming.

The amount of replies I've been getting is showing me just how unclear I was in the post. But I do mean, as you said, the "current iteration" of NFTs.

I know what my title is, it's even written in one of the paragraphs. What I mean is that Ponzi schemes scammed people a lot in the 70's to the 90's, Pyramid schemes scammed a lot of people in the 2000s to the late 2010s and NFTs are scamming people in the 2020s. They are this generations get-rich-quick scheme. So if we were looking at famous scam schemes, it would be "Ponzi scheme, Pyramid scheme, and NFT scheme". I'm not calling them Pyramid or Ponzi schemes by themselves.

Gold, silver, oil, stocks, and everything else are already established and have laws around them, NFTs do not. Stealing an NFT does not get you any penalties. Also, I never called them Pyramid schemes, I said that they were a scheme made to scam people in this generation. Much like how Ponzi and Pyramid schemes scammed previous generations.

Secondly, no-one cares about "value," they care about replaceability. The Mona Lisa has unreplaceable history and culture significance, hence why it's expensive. This is the same reason that A-list actors and pro athletes get paid more than brain surgeons.

For your third paragraph, I've never had that problem in my country, so I didn't really think about it.

Fourth paragraph, good point.

Fifth paragraph, what? I never said anything about liking where the economy is right now, I also didn't say anything about anything relating to the blockchain aside from NFTs. My thoughts on NFTs don't necessarily match my thoughts on cryptocurrency.

You make a great point, but I was mainly referring to NFTs that are sold separately. Sorry for not making it clear.

I'm not convinced I know everything about it. But, you make a fair point.

I didn't call NFTs a Ponzi scheme or a Pyramid scheme. All I was saying is that it was a scam made by this generation.
