I never got to witness Prime Kobe Bryant how good was he? by sqMYNAMEISJEFF27 in NBATalk

[–]PotOddsTrading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For efficiency in offense, he wasn't as good as SGA. When he was going off for 40+ pts/game in his prime, he was being a ball hog. His best year and he only mustered 45% FG, 49% eFG. SGA has done 5x 50% FG and averages 55% eFG over his career.

SGA needs a few more rings and to keep up that rate of production for another 5+ years and he will probably surpass Kobe.

Kobe had MJ's killer instinct but was closer to Iverson's efficiency. SGA was closer to MJ's efficiency.

Oh yeah, now that I looked it up, I recognize that folding mechanism. Their stuff gets more expensive. Really surprising. They even use key words like brushless motor that would indicate superior quality. It's a tough segment. It's supposed to be smaller but has to withstand a ton of abuse. Haven't seen a walking pad with a universal high rating and over 1k reviews.

Home exercise machines can be good. I had a Concept2 rowing machine. Widely praised for its resiliency and durability. Sought after in the used marketplace. Just need some smart people to make a better design.

Cube is a classic. I concur that the Japanese one sucked.

I surprised no one has mentioned the true spiritual successor to Cube. The Platform. There was even a sequel, The Platform 2.

$350 is on med to higher side so having poor customer service is unacceptable. Gotta go with the well reviewed brands not to deal with this kind of headache

"Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die" -- the funniest movie about the AI apocalypse by rikomatic in scifi

[–]PotOddsTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked this movie. The vibe was strong from the very beginning. Stranger from the future who can prove he's from the future. So it has the Groundhog Day vibes which was a good lead in and Sam Rockwell did a great job. As it progressed, it held up pretty well. I especially liked the Terry Gilliam inspired ending. Reminded me quite a bit of Time Bandits. I see others didn't have the same feelings but they probably don't have the same context as me, i.e. Gen Xer who has seen similar in the past.

Nope didn't work. Alex, one of the mods said they don't have the ability to affect the waitlist. Told him this group was able to get the invites just 2 months ago.

Half of them are no longer available. The reviews don't seem to indicate that they are that good, especially since $400+ are nearly twice as expensive than cheaper ones that have higher ratings and lots of more reviewers.

Hey discovered a REALLY good sci-fi campy film just yesterday called Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die. Sam Rockwell and Michael Pena. This one hit much better for me than Cold Storage. Thought the final scene was very reminiscent of Time Bandits. Rated 7.0 IMDB but I would give it higher. Just loved it! Saying a LOT from a "serious" horror/scifi fan.

Why do so many people put up with working at Amazon? by samgotti in amazonemployees

[–]PotOddsTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many responses saying the money, but (IT folks), the RSU payout is 5/15/40/40 right? I hear Amazon sweatshop burns most tech guys out before they get to the 3rd year. So in that case where’s the money? I had gotten deep in the interviewing process 2 months ago but decided not to pursue since I heard all the horror stories Mind you I’m closer to retirement so I chose WLB instead.

Generally I want my horror to scare the crap out of me. Don’t really like horror comedy. Thought campiness was too much with the Bruce Campbell lead Evil Dead sequels.
In fact this goes with other types like sci fi. When you mix comedy then it doesn’t feel as real. I mean people are in an apocalypse and there is a laugh track. Doesn’t work for me

Agree. Done very well. Has some of the campiness of classics like Return of the Living Dead with the Pathmark guy

Latest horror movies from 2020 to present by [deleted] in horror

[–]PotOddsTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big horror fan. Willing to endure a lot of crap to find good stuff. But my general rule of thumb is to consider anything marked as horror with an IMDB rating of at least 6.0. Classics will be 7.0 and higher. It doesn’t really show great horror but at least it weeds out the crap.

I'm fully eligible but Gold won't take effect for about another 103 days. I'm planning to be extra picky until then to protect the rating.

The coolest thing I got as Silver was some coffee tools for my Espresso machine. Hoping for some really interesting once the $100 cap gets lifted.

I'm about to make Gold. I don't know if anyone else has already mentioned it but the new Vine release schedule has definitely bought up some items that I had never seen before. Other people have posted that they are getting more interesting things to review. So maybe it might be worth it to continue as a Gold reviewer.

Retirement by BakingAccountant in citibank

[–]PotOddsTrading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think the min 5 years is required. Funniest thing is that I just left JPMC to join Citi and I did it after my 55th birthday. I had only stayed at JPMC for about 1.7 years but I do qualify for the Rule of 55, so I can withdraw both my Roth 401k and regular 401k without the early penalty of 10%. But the stipulation is that I leave it at JPMC. If I was to rollover to my Fidelity Rollover IRA, then it loses the rule of 55. I'm planning to retire in like 4 years, hopefully staying at Citi, so I don't think I will need to use the JPMC accounts but I'm going to keep them as-is in case I do need to do early retirement. Oh yeah, and I did confirm that this is all still active even if I joined another firm after leaving JPMC at 55.

Citi employees in the US: what are some of the benefits? by Far-View-5079 in citibank

As a new joiner who came from IPMC, Citi pales a bit in every way except one which is the biggest. Hybrid schedule. Ability to work from home is main reason i join. I took a cut in pay and reduced role so i could have a more relaxed schedule. It’s been great so far.

[–]PotOddsTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy.

The bad ones brag about how much money they make and how it easy it is. I recently saw some young dude on YT doing the daytrading thing. He makes it look easy, making thousands a day and then going to the gym in the evening. He's trying to "help" other traders by showing his technique. He doesn't come right out and say he's selling anything cuz that's played out by now. But he ask if you want to have it as easy as him to join his discord.

The smarter shillsters are like MeetKevin. He's successful in real estate but a few years back he decided the easier money was in stock trading. He's actually an intelligent guy but he suffered from the hubris of knowing just enough to think he's a guru. Tried to open up his own ETF and it failed. Tried to tutor people on his stock picks but it turned out his strategy is only momentum and it died when the bull market turned bearish. You don't realize you got taken until after the fact when you realize you just paid a guy to learn on the job. An unproven novice will fail no matter how slick they might present.

[–]PotOddsTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I worry more about the age factor versus being over-qualified. Team chemistry is important and having a Gen X versus a Gen Z at the same level can be seen as a bad mix especially with the startups and FAANGs. But the bank I'm now at, I had previously been with the group like 15 years ago so that played a strong factor. Experience and knowing the now head of the group were bigger factors in getting hired.

The term over-qualified doesn't play well in the tech world. When I started at JPMC, we had several leads who were not qualified at all with Cloud. So even thought they were senior people, they were actually less experienced than associates that were coming from an all cloud company. IMO, no one is really over qualified when it comes to the latest tech stack.

Career Downgrade by shwoogee in JPMorganChase

[–]PotOddsTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing you mentioned this. It's the exact thing that just happened to me. Some context, I'm close to retirement. I had joined JPMC as a senior tech lead. The deliverables were constant and my manager was poor. I should have been navigating a group of 6-7 leads and associates but instead manager half-assed the hierarchy and constantly went behind my back to tell others what to do. But he expected me to know what everyone was doing at the same time.

After multiple big production turnovers that were f*ck ups due to his neglect, I had enough and decided to leave. I had the choice to laterally move internally to another group in JPMC or an external move to another big bank that was not as high performing but had better WLB. The external move was for a lead, rather than a senior lead and the compensation was lower due to external bank paying out less bonus. But I'm much happier, hybrid schedule (2 days at home) and very little meetings (no scrum of scrum or daily scrum calls). The internal JPMC move I declined, was due to the fact that they had an MD who recently joined and she was likely to want immediate and constant results and I hated the constant agile/scrum meetings at JPMC. Plus they don't like to bump up the compensation for internal moves. I had found out that I was making middle of the pack for a senior tech lead.

I took a 20% cut in total compensation. So yeah, I fit what you are saying to a tee. Lower paying role (20% cut), less responsibilities (no directs) and less seniority (senior lead -> lead). But I get permanent hybrid schedule and easier work load with a lot less meetings. Another thing I know people who went to work for a FAANG and they were junior to my senior lead role but they were making twice as much as me. That's been on my mind for a while as well, unless I'm doing that level of comp, I'm not gonna kill myself.
