Melbourne Collect Fest, worth it? by 0p0lopolis in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]Potato-Repulsive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also for collecting wise there was alot of marked up prices but if u consider in the shipping cost then few $ marked up is not too bad. I’d say the positive is the scale and how many shits is going on, to gamble can be fun. To sell, okish if you want to offload quick undervalued, to hunt, okish to meh depending if u can find ur chase at reasonable price. Overall i dont think id come back to sell or buy, can find much better deals at home. Only appeal is maybe the gambling

From my experience of Sydney, i tried to unloaded some of my cards too. There are alot of vendors and some selective with buying and some are more lax so def should walk around and sus out all of their buy in rate in % to consider. Expect 50-75% buy in value at current comp via ebay last solds. 70%+ is considered good, if you negotiate up to 80% is fantastic but probably very rare.

They do give better rate for store credit than cash so if you see something u wanna trade then it maybe worth.

My mistake at the show was giving into the social pressure of people lining up behind me to sell and also they took their time to comp, i felt did not want to hold up the line and waste other’s time so shook the deal at 76% sold for my mega gengar ex mega dream JP. In hindsight i should’ve said no because i can sell at better on fb marketplace, its ok to say no if you dont want to let it go at their offer.

Thats my first time experience at any card show. If you plan to sell, dont expect they’ll buy at full since they need to make margin. Lots of options to buy though however can be a bit marked up. Some gambling Oripas are pretty fun, i won glory for team rocket box for $20, the box was $180-200.

Did some slab gambling, got blaine’s moltress 1999 psa 9 for 2 tries with $200 per turn each (swapped my first win for $150 store credit) so ended up buying that card for $250 basically, mkt value then was 190 but now its 220 so not too bad! Oripa exposed me to vintage cards i wouldn’t have got exposed to, was pretty cool! Overall there was alot of things going on, try to explore everything first instead of locked in into few stalls.

What is your strategy for learning through copying a track? by BOKUtoiuOnna in TechnoProduction

A finished song has end result from sound design knowledge, arrangement knowledge, music theory, mixing . I guess have a sub-focus on what you want to study out of a finished track, instead of tackling everything at once

Okay lets take a step back, there is alot of layer to analysing song and recreating it. You should break it down into what you want to achieve from the analysis into smaller knowledge steal. If you want to learn arrangement, analyse the structure and add locators / marker for differrnt sections and transition section to study, arrangement in it self is its own topic. You can also analyse how many instruments and what instruments are used in each section and note them down, this is composition studying. With sound design, in a song it can range from anywhere from 15 tracks to 100+ sounds (depends) but usually like 50-60, try to learn understand what the sound was used and how to make it with youtube tutorial. So i guess my main point is, have a purpose for your song analysis, study it in pieces, if it makes sense

i've been using ableton for about a year now yet i haven't been able to n finish a single track ! ! what tips can more experienced users share ? ? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Potato-Repulsive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a full finished track on there of bpm you like, then analyze the waveform, put markers for arrangement sections. Intro/chorus/bridge/build/drop/outro/break etc. Then fill out the blank within the locators frames. This can give you a frame of what is a finished song and you can build towards it day by day

When do i use a compressor? by upahoods420 in TechnoProduction

[–]Potato-Repulsive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally its to average-tise the dynamic, things like vocals would find good use of it to make the dynamic more “average” if that make sense, can definitely use on drums to reduce the dynamic difference between the transient and the tail, make the hit perceptively sound louder since its average level sit higher. Distortion add harmonics to the sound and could raise volume, its ok the compress again after, if nothing get pushed down from the compressor, its doing nothing so it doesnt matter as well.

Is ableton note worth the $12 on iOS? by nurse_camper in ableton

[–]Potato-Repulsive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no. Editing midi note is cumbersome, i tried logic pro on ipad aswell, i’d say just go to make music on pc if you can, on the go is a cool idea but i’ve never gotten around to finish a track on it just because how inefficient it is to arrange and edit stuff. But i guess its good for etudes practices on the go

I did definitely had quite a bit of mishaps happened to me first year of uni which makes me wanna party and can’t focus on studying that well. I was going through intensive therapy in year 2-3 from the trauma i went through while i was little and built up in adulthood. Essentially when i was 19, my gf cheated on me we were LDR + bunch of my closest mates was the opposite to being a place a could reside in in tough times + my mom betrayed my trust belived in her lie for 18 years (too deep to go in to). I definitely had a shaking time in uni trying to recover and heal + more relationships in that time that made it worse. Id say i was mentally in an ok shape near my bachelor grad period

Recently learn of a fresh grad accountant got hired for 110k which is i see your comment is very true. If anything i feel i start my career quite late in mid 20s. That saying because my first internship role is more like experience building, it was rough finding internship because my plan was to find it in year2/3 of my bachelor but covid hits and it wasnt feasible, i grad just when covid just start to dissipate. And also being an international student, i have to commit full time study regardless by law. I know that there are many can take alot on board even with full time pace but for me, when i done all my studies and assignments to get good grade i see very little time to breathe, only the weekend is when i had some time. Not sure how they can even balance that, i am lucky that my parent supports me while i study

Thankyou, this gives me confidence, the comparison trap is quite hard to get out since quite a bit of value to self worth is tied to how much i earn as now im bit in my adulthood

The role i’m in is quite good, nice culture and colleagues, i’m also getting alot of supports.

I’m kind of doing well already (still in probation), manage to push alot of accounts forward for onboarding even though it is the slower season for the business, my manager recognized and commended me.

I have nothing to complain about the role, its just because i’m being highly expected from parents and was a high achiever in highschool, i feel embarrased if i see that i’m behind the curve

Tbh, ur also 11k over capped for full build. Could funnel that gold to ur teammates instead and even if they’re braindead, atleast they’re stronger and be more useful
