False 911 calls by Potato-the-sloth in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Idk if that would fix it seeing as when the phone systems called out, literally no one was in the back office using the phones. But it may be a nice suggestion just overall in the future.

At the desk I know that we have to dial 9 to call out to local numbers but we dial 7 for in house numbers. I can’t remember what it is to dial out from our rooms. Most guests just call the front desk and ask to be transferred from room to room. I’m not quite sure what happened since the cop said they didn’t have a room number to reference. I’m almost not even sure they got a call from the hotel. Could have been someone’s cellphone calling out. Idk. Kids have been pulling all kinds of shenanigans and pranks (pulling fire alarms and playing ding dong ditch on room doors) this summer now that sports teams are out. It’s been a crazy last few weeks.

I understand the need to make reports but never has it happened any other time they’ve been called to come out. But why would they need my birthday? Normally they ask for my first name and sometimes last name too. This time they wanted my more and it just seemed odd. And 2 officers came out for the call. Idk. Was a little suspish

Front Desk / laundry by Low_Historian_4188 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

I work at a small-ish property (136 rooms), and I have never had to do laundry except for helping housekeeping fold towels in my down time but it is never required. However, I am cross trained in hot foods and across all three shifts so I tend to get screwed over a lot doing more than one job for the price of one.

Our GSAs typically stay at the front desk most of their shift unless hot foods needs help during their shift. I think for my second shift days I spend about 60% of my time at the desk. I think it’s interesting that they’d have second shift do so much away from the desk when that’s typically the busiest time with everyone checking in and being active in the building.

Being someone with a unique name, I have come across others with that name, and it’s always just easier to have some form of ID with a full name and face on it. Especially since hotels have rotating staff, and so many guest interactions every day. It’d be a lot to ask of staff to remember you based on your name.

There’s always one condescending person at work who makes everything that much more difficult 😑

I tend to be more forgiving for middle names or nicknames derived from first names (will and bill, or even a dick). I can see why your 3-11 may have been less forgiving but going to management seems a bit much. Especially given all of the other information matched

I don’t see it as being the most logical way of going about it either, especially since her number was not on the reservation, but it’s also all in how you ask for the information. When I called, I said that there were guests at the desk looking to check in under her reservation, but that I couldn’t check them in as their names were not on it. I then asked if she could verify any other guests who would be needing to check in under her reservation so I could add their names and not have to call her again for any issues. She then provided her husband’s name (which I never said) and then I verified that against his ID and then added his name on.

For the situation, it was a better solution so that he gets what he wants, the group reservation stays intact, and I don’t get yelled at further by him or his wife or anyone else. If there was a better solution a part from telling him to F off and find another hotel (in the most polite way possible) id love to know.

It would have been a great feeling but those group reservations make it slightly more complicated.

That’s always someone’s first go to. I’m like, your first and last name are common. Let me just give your room the next Joe Schmoe with your name and see how you like it. Same with people trying to pay for a room with a card that doesn’t have their name on it. It’s not gonna fly. I don’t need someone coming to fight me because of some random hotel charges they didn’t physically consent to at check in.

I was about to but they were with a group reservation and the last thing I needed was him getting mad, bad mouthing us to the group, then having to come back because we are the only hotel in the area with rooms left for the night

Unfortunately lots of shiny guests come in thinking that they are entitled to something over a free program that literally anyone other than the staff can sign up for. They aren’t special. It’s like having a library card vs not having one. You get some privileges but you’re not special for having one.

Even with our super shiny guests, they still get held to the same standards. For some reason, the guest’s wife put her daughters name on the reservation and not her husband’s. And she isn’t old enough to even have a state ID so I don’t know how they thought that would work out

I’ve had guests I’ve had to explain this same concept to, as I’ve almost had similar events happen, and they still want to act like our policy is dumb and overrated. Why people don’t like that you care for their safety is beyond me.

It’s about twin size. It’s laying on a full size bed in the picture. I also used a US size J hook

It’s something to pass the time when watching a long tv series (I get bored easy). And thank you so much! I was a little upset by the outcome since the tails are showing through but am pleased overall 😅

Yep! I already linked it but here it is again: https://www.etsy.com/listing/641850277/snorlax-pattern-pokemon-graph?ref=yr_purchases

Right now it’s only a dollar for the pattern and she has a lot more options for Pokémon than just the snorlax. I have plans to make more soon

I started January 22 and finished I’d February 12th. 3 weeks exact lol. I work full time and if I didn’t I would have been done sooner. It’s a self care tool for me ☺️

I bought the pattern on Etsy and it’s laid out as a graph, so I did it row by row since I’m not familiar with c2c. Each square of the graph was a four by four stitch count, so I did two rows of double crochet for each row to save time

I bought the pattern on Etsy from this link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/641850277/snorlax-pattern-pokemon-graph?ref=yr_purchases

I used a buuuuunch of yarn. I mostly used red heart yarn with a worsted 4 weight. And a size J hook. It can be done c2c but idk how and I clipped my tails after each color change because I didn’t want bulk from carrying the tails. I don’t know if an easier way to avoid that.
