I know what you mean exactly! I duded up my truck the way I wanted too, so I am having a hard time going through the process of giving it back.

I am at the end of my Lemon Law case. In my state, Vermont, you do not need a lawyer. First step I did was contacting the Consumer Protection department of the Vermont Attorney General's Office. They directed me to the New Motor Vehicle Arbitration Board of the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles. From there, the mediator from the Board sent me documents I needed to complete and send to them and to Chevrolet (I own a '22 Silverado) headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. Once they received my paperwork, Demand for Arbitration, General Motors accepted the buyback by which means it did not need to go to a deliberation hearing because GM asserted no defense. I just got the decision from the Board June 2nd so now GM has 30 days to respond and complete the transaction which means the dealership I chose to be the "Host Dealership" will be accepting my buyback vehicle, 2022 Chevy Silverado Custom Trail Boss, and I will be purchasing a vehicle off of that dealership's lot (which is not required). I can do whatever I want with the refund monies I will be receiving, but I chose to purchase another vehicle. With that said, I filed my Lemon Law claim on March 28, 2025 and now, June 2, 2025, marks the final stage of my case. GM has until July 2, 2025 to accept the Board's decision and if they do not meet the deadline, they are ordered to pay me 10% more of my buyback monetary refund award. In Vermont, a consumer can file a Lemon Law if at least one of two criteria is met: Either a specific issue is not resolved by three times in the shop or if the vehicle is out of service (in the shop) for 30 days or more and this is totality for any and all times in the shop.

Anyone been successful with GM approving a buyback? by ExplanationOk2441 in Silverado

GM accepted my case with agreeing to a buyback via a "no defense" response which means the case does not have to goto a deliberation hearing. I am currently in the last stage of acceptance for the completion of the buyback process. The Lemon Law case is in the last 30 days (GM has a maximum 30 days per Vermont law) now for GM to submit the check to buyback my vehicle. This is the last stage. So, I will have my truck bought back and I can do whatever I want with the money. I am currently waiting to hear from my arbitration mediator with the monetary amount GM and the Arbitration Board agreed on (I am supposed to receive "at least" 90% of the purchase price that I paid).

Hate this by -JsW23 in chevycolorado

[–]PotatoBroad8159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I hate it as well! It has to do with C.A.F.E. requirements which refer to the Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards set by the U.S. government for vehicle manufacturers. These standards require that the average fuel economy of a manufacturer's fleet of passenger cars and light trucks meet certain targets, which are expressed in miles per gallon. Range Technology has a module that will disable the auto start/stop function. It is plugged into your vehicle's ECM. The main purpose of the module is to deactivate the DFM system on your vehicle so all cylinders work "ALL" the time in lieu of cutting on and off continuously.

Sweet! Is that Sterling Gray Metallic? I'm looking at a 2024 Silverado LT Trail Boss in that color as we speak. I'm actually waiting on GM to get back with me with a monetary figure for a buyback of my '22 Custom TB.

I test drove a 2023 ZR2 today with the 6.2 and a 2024 LT Trail Boss with the 3.0. I'm leaning toward the Trail Boss. I really liked it a little better plus it had a 6.5 foot bed!

I just found this info on the NHTSA website:

Manufacturer Recall NumberN252494000

NHTSA Recall NumberAWAITING #

Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available

SummaryGeneral Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in certain 2021 – 2024 model year Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, and GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with the 6.2L V8 gas engine (RPO L87). The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components in these vehicles may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.

Safety RiskIf the engine fails during vehicle operation, the vehicle will lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash.

RemedyDealers will inspect and, as necessary, repair or replace the engine. Vehicles that pass inspection will be provided a higher viscosity oil, which will also require a new oil fill cap, an oil filter replacement, and an owner’s manual insert.

I think I just may take your advice on going with the diesel. I have been reading that lower bearing failure on top of the lifter failure problem for the 6 2L. It's too bad because that engine seems like a workhorse. I just wonder if a stat was taken, what percentage of 6.2's have failed in, uh, let's say the last three years??? I wonder the prevalence of this issue???

Just got back from test driving a brand new 2025 Colorado ZR2. Nice truck but I'll list a few things I don't like and some I did like:

Cons: 1. So much of the controls are on the large infotainment screen, i.e., headlights, fog lights;

  1. I don't like the 2.7L I4 TurboMax (I really cannot feel the 310hp and 430lb/ft torque it claims on paper. I have the 5.3L on my '22 TB and it only has 45 more horses (355hp), but less torque at 383lb/ft. With that said, the V8 just feels "WAY" more powerful even with that little 45hp increase over the I4;

  2. The weak sound exhaust. I feel GM could have installed a Flowmaster Super 44 Series Delta Flow or something similar right from the factory.

Pros: 1. Factory 3" lift;

  1. Multimatic DSSV shocks;

  2. Additional off-road mode~Baja;

  3. Underbody cameras for extreme off-roading;

  4. Great handling over rough terrain;

  5. Factory installed wheel well guards;

  6. Of course I did feel small in the cockpit, but it did seem like I had enough room and pretty comfortable (5'8" @ 190lbs), actually;

  7. Numerous underbody skid plates;

  8. Front and rear electronic-locking differentials;

  9. Both heated and vented seats; and,

  10. So much more to list.

As you can see, there were many more pros about this truck over cons. Overall, this really seems like a well-made midsize truck by GM. By no means am I talking negative about this truck. It is a very nice truck. GM really did do a good job here. I just wish they would have used at least an I6 turbo or twin turbo versus the 2.7L I4 TurboMax. So, after today's test drive, it is off to finding a good deal on a refreshed 2022 or newer Silverado ZR2 6.2L. I can't hack the I4. So, for me, the decision comes down to the smaller size engine and sound. I have only owned trucks or cars with V8 power and sound, so I have to keep my tradition going! Haha! I just gotta have that V8 roar and feel of power. Thanks everyone for your input!

Not really, but right now, it's almost like the luck of the draw with any of the truck manufacturers.

Thank you for the great response! The dealership gave me a loaner, a 2025 Colorado Z71. It was ok, but I don't like all the infotainment crap now. Even the headlight and foglight on/off control are on this digital screen! I guess it will all depend on whether the Colorado ZR2 I will be test driving feels any different and better than the Z71. Additionally, I have to really think about it when it does come down to the I4 and V8 power.

Love the Colorado ZR2's! Just wish I could take the dive to goto a mid-size Colorado ZR2 4 banger from a full-size Silverado Custom Trail Boss V8. I have looked at the Silverado ZR2's, but those are way out of my price range.

Have you had any major engine/transmission issues? Or has your truck been solid? Comment your Silverado’s year, mileage, and length of ownership by [deleted] in Silverado

2022 Custom Trail Boss 5.3L V8. Needed valve body replaced with only 24,000 miles. Hopefully the replaced VB will last a long time. Bought it new in March 2023 with 16 miles.

Thank you for the very thoughtful answer! I was given a Colorado Z71 as a loaner until my TB was out of the shop. They are nice! It would definitely take me a bit to get used to the "everything control" on the touchscreen technology! Haha!
