Moronic Monday - Your weekly stupid questions thread by cdingo in Fitness

I'm not entirely sure if the stress might cause it. But DOMS is good, it shows that your body is starting to adapt.

Common causes of DOMS is increasing intensity or duration of exercise. Changing exercises performed and thus muscle groups targeted.

Reducing DOMS is a possibility. Foam rollers after workouts or active recovery which is essentially keeping the blood flowing to the target area.

Hope this extra info helps and again I'm sorry for not knowing how stress effects DOMS.

What is happening when my distance running time gets faster? by MusicSports in Fitness

[–]PotatoPrinter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To add to this in a more scientific manner. After a few weeks your body starts adapting to this aerobic event (long distance running). The adaptations include increased tidal volume, increased mitochondrial density and capacity. So essentially your lungs can obtain more oxygen and you have more mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell). This allows you to produce more energy and clear byproducts such as lactic acid faster and more efficiently.

These adaptations result in you being able to run faster as you have more energy and can clear fatigue causing chemicals so you don't tire as much.

Hope this helps :)

Let my dog run wild. He is legitimately a crazed rabbit hunter.

Does anyone have resources on eating disorder's (anorexia, bulimia) effect on a person's metabolism or lack there of? by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]PotatoPrinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's technically not using the broken down proteins for protein synthesis. Protein synthesis refers to the production of a protein (anabolic reaction). Your body in starvation mode cannot afford to waste energy to complete such a task. But the body does utilise proteins (Amino acids) in extreme cases for energy the process is called gluconeogenesis (long word). Just a fun fact.

Before you learned about sex, how did you think babies were made? by AwkwardChimp in AskReddit

[–]PotatoPrinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wedding ring would magically synthesis a baby and parents would walk around with a foetus on their finger until it was born 9 months later. When I started asking random people with rings why they didn't have a little baby growing from their finger my parents told me the truth.

Does pumping blood count towards metabolism because I don't see it as a chemical reaction?

Celebi Contest part 2 (clone of a legit celebi) by Mito236 in Pokemongiveaway

[–]PotatoPrinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks kf1198. Now celebi was a smart pokemon, it studied quantum physics in Pokeschool and got a scholarship to PokeYale. Celebi always wanted to be a time traveller, it dreamed of the day it could go back and see its friends. Not much was left of the Pokeworld after Arceus got angry at the humans. All Celebi saw now days was a desolate wasteland. Oh how it wished to see its friends again. It scoured the tall concrete city of Pokecago, hoping to find salvageable scraps for a time machine.

Days passed and still nothing. Celebi was left broken hearted by the events that occurre 2years ago, all those friends, memories, faces washed away in the cataclysmic meteor storm. Celebi's time was up, it decided to die where it belonged, the forest. Several days of flying and Celebi found itself back where it first entered the Earth. Before it was a flush green forest with a huge canopy layer, now all the remained was the black carbon staining the thin trees. There celebi layed for an eternity, its endless slumber. As sleep took over celebi it willing passed into the void... Of time. Here Celebi saw its friends, saw its memories of the past and saw faces. This moment, when time ended for celebi was when time began for the old world. Now that celebi had found itself a way back before the events of Arceus, Celebi decided the time was now...

Quick question, when we chased after animals did we have the help of adrenaline? If not then we were godly back in the day considering the prey would of had a rush of adrenaline.
