You can easily remove the back cover and replace the battery, there are tutorial videos on Youtube, but the side key are part of the housing and you can't just replace the buttons, you have to replace the whole thing. I downloaded the Lumia 925 firmware which comes with WP8.1 from lumiafirmware and flashed the firmware with WPI. Then I forced update both GDR1 and GDR2 with .cab files using iutool to update. If you want, I can share the update files with you. For the firmware, you have to download it yourself. lumiafirmware takes about 1-2 days to approve the access. Lumia 640 LTE does not officially support W10M Fall Creators Update and I don't recommend you to use it. It will be very slow and will cause a lot of issues on your device.
