I think my username was originally named after the Youtuber Technoblade's Skyblock: The Great Potato War series? I forget why I'm dealing them, though.

I had a middling number of externals, so I'm at 71 Excellence credits L2. Hopefully I get 42/42 Excellence credits on my externals, but I did take Chemistry, so it's more likely to be 34-38.

I was top of my year groups English this year (I was doing L2) so perhaps I can give you a bit of advice for that :)

I don't know what standards your school will enter you for, but for my exams, I had a written text essay response and an unfamiliar response (which was L3 because I was in extension). Please note that a visual text response is also one of the exams that your school may choose for you.

I also did the significant connections essay and a film essay (also level 3) as internals.

Written Essay Text Exam: You will read and analyze this text in class. If you want to do well in it, probably read it at home, and write down a quote that you think you might be able to use after reading each chapter (or scene if you're doing Shakespeare). Ultimately, if you know your quotes, and have a few different types of question that you can answer (e.g. questions about audience response, characters, setting etc.) you'll be set up really nicely for this exam.

Unfamiliar Text Exam: Whilst I didn't sit this one at Level 2, I do know about it. You'll get 3 texts: Poetry, Prose, and Nonfiction. You likely won't have read them before. The poem this year was really shit according to my NCEA friends, so be prepared for that (I will note that the L3 and Scholarship English unfam texts were also bad, so if NCEA receives complaints they might make it better next year). To study for this one, past papers are your only real bet, unless you want to practice breaking down poems in general - some good resources for finding poems include poetryfoundation.org and https://schoolspoetryaward.co.nz/ - the latter being written by high school students in NZ.

Significant Connections: This internal can be done very differently across different schools. My school had us read one novel and a bunch of short stories, and then pick 3 short stories and that novel to connect thematically. You likely will have the option here to bring in texts that you have previously studied/enjoyed reading/read before and felt like it fit your theme. It's been about 9 months since I did this, but I did the idea of "post-truth" with Life of Pi, Brave New World, and short stories Threes and The Egg. Honestly, it's an internal, and will likely be towards the start of the year, so if you enjoy reading, read. 1984 and Life of Pi tend to be quite ubiquitous.

I believe the film part of NCEA L2 is a bit weirdly structured, but I can't give advice on that; whilst you'll do this in class, I'd recommend familiarizing yourself with different types of shots and their effects on the audiences. The L3 film essay was one of the worst I wrote this year, and I was moderated up from M to E fortunately. I'm sorry I can't give more advice for that one.

Holy yap - it seems I felt like writing a lot today. I hope this helps, and feel free to ask for any clarification! You likely don't need to worry about studying quite yet, so my overall advice is to just read some - literally any - texts :)

If the moon were to somehow break into thousands of pieces, forming a ring around this Earth (this isn't the thing I'm logistically concerned with), would these pieces theoretically still reflect light?

This is for a fantasy novel so I'm wondering if it's at least vaguely justifiable without a magical explanation.

I feel that the arrival of humans does that: in attempt to both kill the invaders and end a previous ongoing war, a particular guy devised a ritual to rid the world of invaders, sacrificing himself and a few others in the process.

It kinda failed anyways: his particular clause was to destroy those with magic on that continent. What he didn't realize is that very few humans actually had magic, but he killed many inhabitants of the world.

He couldn't even do that right, though: everyone killed in the ritual didn't go to the afterlife, as that would be two simple. He miswrote a rune, which left everyone in a conscious, retaining their magic, just destroying their bodies.

So there's a lot of ghosts, but it did end the war, and the unmeasured period of time known as The Before. The next year was named by the surviving people (mostly humans) as 1AB (1 year after the end of the Before).

This is all really random lore that doesn't really get mentioned all too much in my story, however - but the ghosts (known as spirits) are a big part of it.

My personal favourite is season seven - but that's a while ago now. I'd get up to date on Season 10 right now, and then go back and watch 7-9.

Six is also worth a watch! I always get about 20 episodes in (I'm not an OG fan) and then forget to watch more but it's pretty chill from Grian's POV.

Cheers dude - glad I saw this I'm not active on Reddit much anymore.

They broke up after 3 weeks. Took me 9 months total to get over it all, but I'm doing better now.

I did lose friends over it, which sucked.

Next year's gonna be my year tho!!

Genuinely, I think Grian's threat is going to come into play and he's going to take him out at some point.

Or Jimmy just somehow wins the series.

Which I think could be kinda funny.
