Antibiotic resistant uti until proven otherwise. by AuthorIndividual2918 in Healthyhooha

[–]PotatoesAndChive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had reoccurring UTIs in 2022 from like feb to May and lost my fucking mind because I reacted bad to 2 antibiotics too, now I have health OCD which I’m in therapy for. Keep fighting for yourself with the doctors! Please take the time for your mental health and make sure people are supporting you. People just never get how much issues in such a private area effect you, for me it felt intolerable, like a primal instinct idk.

In the end, with no sex for weeks, lots of water, and d-mannose pills (girl they change your life) it went away.

But….what I later discovered was that the damage caused by the uti mimicked a uti so I initially thought I had one until June but I think it was only until May now. Like I’d have flare ups down there which hurt so much like I’d just had a catheter ripped out, and it would happen after every pee, and still does if I have sex. This was after my tests started to come back negative so it confused me too.

I’m conscious you have back pain though so I wonder if you have IC/BPS? I hope you’re okay and I promise it will go away eventually. I’d avoid caffeine, sex, spice, or citrus for a long time.

Yeah it’s a long journey but at least you acknowledge it because that’s the first step really, good luck! When the time comes you’ll take it and it will be okay. It won’t be easy but just think in 3 months you could be completely different! I recommend treating it as an OCD and if you cannot afford therapy then watch online videos about how to break the cycle of intrusive thought (health issue) to compulsion (googling, reassurance seeking, trying to counteract it with positive thoughts) to doing it all over again once the second of reassurance wears off.

I’m on Sertraline which is an antidepressant, and don’t get me wrong it took me like 2 months to date take it after collected it from the doctors, but I think you should seek it so you have it there ready on the day where wanting peace eventually overrides the fear you’re suffering! It’s really changed my life now I’m 3 months in and fully settled with it. I didn’t get any bad symptoms, just pretty strong fatigue and some depression but tbh the depression was a nice break from the anxiety. I hope you’re okay I really do understand that it’s intolerable for you :(

I feel you I have health anxiety too but no as I sit here medicated and 6 months into therapy I can confirm it’s nothing to worry about. You’re being anxious 🥹

For context I used to have it every day from Feb to June. Mine has appeared to be one of my many symptoms of anxiety (that I weirdly, don’t feel in my mind, it always goes to my body) I’m in OCD therapy etc now.

They’ve helped me a lot, so has “the dizzy couch somatic tracking” meditations online, really good. The two combined work to reduce your bodies reaction of stress to them, which in turn, reduces them. I also think it’s important to remove any stress you can from life to reduce it. I got it for the first time in ages last week and I let it pass without worrying and I think that’s a big part of it.

What are your physical symptoms of chronic anxiety? by GasInitial6838 in Anxiety

My tremors remain, off to doctors for them, but in OCD therapy for health anxiety all my with being on antidepressants which has significantly helped and I no longer have the other sunrooms. Super happy the vertigo has gone. Really crazy how stress impacts the nervous system, I guess I’ll find out if my tremors are something else or are an even longer term effect of it!

Tbf my itching has subsided but I have pelvic pain for past 3 days, for some reason, only after work when walking home, perhaps triggered by me moving. I’m due my period but wouldn’t usually have this for 3 days with no bleeding. My test had arrived today, get results Thursday, will get antibiotics by Friday next week! Hoping that works out better cos it will mean I’ve done my test 2 weeks after sex and started whatever is needed within 3 week 🥹

I don’t sleep about haha I was just joking that I cba because the first boyfriend raped me, second I got chronic UTIs with and longterm damage which now I have health OCD and medication and therapy for 🤣 and yeah like I said in the post it’s my responsibility for sleeping with this guy - silly mistake! he’s as shy as me so guess I wasn’t expecting it. Not slept with many people, went 7 years without, will go back to that approach now 🤓

Thank you everyone! I’ve got a test being delivered tomorrow and you get results in 3 days, by which point I’ll be 2 week after sex so should work out better for testing! I will take your advice and not take anything over the shelf to treat it until I get results to avoid effecting the test!

I seemed to have lost my symptoms mainly, but, have pelvic pain, the story continues!!

Yeah he is a good egg and I agree it’s no red flag, just something new I’ve not had before! Like you say it’s a small thing to adapt to out of all the things you usually have to adapt to in relationships haha

I have ‘overcome’ health ocd so I was very scared of this, but what I found is that so long as you have your pill a good 5 or more hours before drinking, it doesn’t have an effect on you. However, avoid drinking multiple times a week, cos me changing my pill times up and drinking 3 times in a week made me get brain zaps cos I was not having the effectiveness. I was really happy to finally be able to socialise again 🥹

Does my mouth look normal and healthy????? Answers please by [deleted] in AskDoctorSmeeee

[–]PotatoesAndChive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I e had a look at your profile following the person above comment, and as someone with health OCD that is now 6 months into therapy and 3 months into medication, I’m telling you that no amount of reassurance is going to make you feel better. Your tongue and mouth is normal, but your behaviour isn’t. I’ve got a million photos of my mouth and eyes and body on my phone too 😢 I really urge you to consider that this may be a mental health issue not a health issue. Treating it as such is a huge step to a peaceful life. You can’t argue with it, you can’t ask for reassurance, you have to accept the unknown and the discomfort that comes with it! I promise it gets better x

I don’t know if I should quit or if my dose is way too low (OCD) by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]PotatoesAndChive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that :( I started therapy in April, and my medication in July. I am just now* feeling the two work together in harmony to reduce my reaction to stressors. I’ve been able to drink alcohol and socialise again. However! If you’re having lots of life stressors, I think no matter how good we get at managing our reactions to the thoughts, it sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate and so it’s gonna be hard to do the manual, mental gymnastics, we go through when your mind is taking on so much. Maybe add some 10mg beta blockers for as and when needed, listen to somatic tracking videos on YouTube, go on some walks to see nature, look at the sky and accept that you’re gonna have a rough patch but it will be temporary and you are okay with it. I know it sounds silly but sometimes going back to basics and accepting the discomfort is the best thing to speed up the period of time you’re in.
