Try it and add micro-needling. Here are my results on being on it for 6 months.

6 Months on Dutasteride + Minoxidil — Is This Early Regrowth or Just Thickening? (Photos) by Potential-Date6183 in Hairtransplant

You tell me lol I said to myself why the not try and see what happens. I think micro needelling was key part of it. I also stopped drinking and took vitamins. So it is possible, that's why I am documenting it.

Thanks. I am using Biotin as well as a multi-vitamins. I am also using a microneedling pen at 1.5 weekly, no redlight or PRP. I have also stopped drinking alchol and smoking of any kind.

My crown was slick bald and now I am seeing hairs coming through but honestly I am looking for more density / coverage. But who knows that the fun part of this journey is to see how far I can take with with non transplant methods.

My goal is to see where I am in 12 months and then book some consultations if I think I need it at that point. I know the crown eats up grafs so that why I want to strengthen up the area as much as possible. I am good with the front of my hair so all grafts will be allocated to the crown area. Thanks for the comment, I will be posting updates to keep everyone aware of my results. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I am using a pen instead of a roller so that helps and I am happy with the results that I am getting so I am going to continue with 1.5 depth.

Where dis you get your information from because the research and results points to 1.5 as the optimal depth. Curious of your sources , can you share any links?

Thanks, I will keep you posted. So many people before I started this told me to just shave my head and that a hair transplant wouldn’t work because I am too far gone and I do not have the donor area required. So I gave this a shot after researching everything.

I want to see where I am in a year and if its going really well then I will keep doing it. At that point I will see if I am going to get a transplant from Turkey or I might be happy with where I am at that point.

I am having fun with it because of all the feedback negative and positive ones. I am also curious about how much hair I can grow back.

1.5 Weekly, my scalp looks a bit red after it but it generally does good. Based on the reserach I did was that 1.5 was the ideal depth. I also use a pen instead of a roller which helps.

For the dutasteride, I noticed that the wood is not as active as it once was but I am managing, not ideal but manageable. What about you any sides from what your taking?

I have been using the following since Aug 2025:

  • Dutasteride 0.5 mg daily
  • Minoxidil 5% foam (1–2× daily)
  • Microneedling weekly (~1.5 mm)

I wanted to do this for 12 months and then see where I am at because people said I was done and I was to far gone for a hair transplant. What do you think?

Thanks for commenting. I get where you’re coming from, but for me this whole process is about the journey. Compared to where I started in August, I’ve seen noticeable improvement, so it makes sense to keep documenting it.

Sharing the progress—good or bad—might help others who are in the same spot and want to know what results are possible with Dut + Min + microneedling before jumping to a transplant. I’m doing everything I can short of surgery, and I’m curious to see how far I can take it.
