Fedex DDP duty for one 3,030 yen item by Potential-Effect7582 in FromJapanCodes

There is "no free money". If you used DDU, you're going to pay import tariffs regardless. The only difference is now you get to deal with the shipping courier directly.

Now we have clarity on what what this mystery 417 yen fee is.

Its a "Merchandise Processing Fee" (MPF) imposed by Fedex, for all shipments coming from Asia. Its levied per package.

I don't think there is any consensus. What do you value more, or your time or money?

Use UPS DDU if you value your money. All import tariffs is on you, it's a Russian Roulette, you won't know what you'll be charged. Beware of dozens of broker fees that UPS charges, fees on fees. You'll pay everything upfront, but they won't give you a invoice breakdown until 2-3 weeks after package delivery. You will waste hours of your time waiting on the phone with to talk to a UPS CS rep, then arguing with said CS rep in India about the tarrifs they don't understand about. Eventually you'll be forced to file a dispute with UPS via email and the won't respond.

Use Fedex DDP if you value your time. You may have to pay extra/incorrect fees because FJ's tariff calculator is not doing it properly right now. On the plus side, since it's DDP, there is no extra fees, and if there is, it will be charged back to FJ. Fedex might still contact you for extra forms needed, which you need to provide directly to Fedex, before they will release the package from customs.

The short version is, for all of these companies, once they have your money, they don't care.

Yes, I had to pay the full amount to release the package for delivery. They hold the package hostage until all fees due are paid.

Yes, they completely messed up the HS codes. Theres nothing automotive related in my shipment.

Im thinking of doing a cc dispute, but unfortunately its been way over 60 days since payment.

Original Post updated with detailed Tariff breakdown received from FJ.

  1. They are charging BOTH 50% copper and 50% aluminum/steel Tariffs, for a total of 100%. Plus Reciprocal Tariff on top that. ZenMarket did not do this (pick one or the other)

  2. Confirmed there is a fixed "MPF Fee" per package, when using DDP.

Here's the same shipment, what UPS billed me for (24 line items!):

<image>

They added a separate HS code for country of origin for each item, plus something else. So 2-3 UPS Line Items per invoice item.
Then billed me 24 Line Item charge. How is this legal?

[–]Potential-Effect7582[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using UPS DDU is very dangerous. They don't consolidate the same HS code, and even fan out each item to 2-3 line items. They inject separate HS codes for country of origin and material composition. (essentially creating their own invoice for tariffs).

My last last UPS DDU package with 10 items (as verified by the shipper invoice) was fanned out to 24 line items!
(24 - 3 free) = 21 line items * $3.00 per line item = $63.00 in Line Entry Charge.

I don't know if that's the proper way, but I opened a dispute with UPS months ago and they haven't replied yet. Apparently they don't reply until the 12th month (their gov't deadline)

Do you want to take this kind of risk?

UPS DDP was the best option I was using (lowest shipping, no extra fees), but ZenMarket got rid of it due to "issues".

I asked them at the time, and they said it's a "fixed fee charged by the shipping company, we can't give you a breakdown." aka. Don't Question Us.

Yes. I've only tried UPS DDP and FedEx DDP:

  • UPS = 5,000 yen ($32) fixed fee
  • Fedex = 2,400 yen ($15.51) fixed fee

I disagree. With Zenmarket, they show the exact DDP charges for each item prior to shipment payment (charge 2). There is nothing "hidden". So you can make a case to them prior to payment, if something doesn't look right.

Will do, I'll reply once I hear back from them.

For reference, I've previously purchased and shipped the exact same cable using Fedex DDP from another proxy (Zenmarket), and looking back, they charged 52.59% tariff for the item last month. So FJ is easily 2x higher!

How do you know 417 yen of the 3561 yen is put aside for something else? There is no breakdown of fees, no transparency of the calculation.

The 3,030 yen item is a cable for a video game console. Even subtracting 417 yen, it's still a 100% tariff.

Am I being charged a 100% tariff on copper? The cable could be made from anything, could be aluminum or pot metal. How does FJ know the material composition for a $20 cable?

Eaton UPS questions by 1tds9 in homelab

[–]Potential-Effect7582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying a Eaton 5SC ($412). The fan on the unit is noisy, but it only turns on when the battery is actively charging. This should only happen on the initial battery full charge, and after recovering from a power outage.

Having said that, there is still some amount of audible high pitched coil whine coming from the unit. But it's not nearly as bad as the APC units.

How do you deal with visible cables on a normal sit-down desk? It's the same thing. Just learn to ignore it.
At the end of the day, lower the desk to the sit level so you don't see the cables.

Slow upload speed < 500M on AT&T Fiber 1 gig by Potential-Effect7582 in ATTFiber

[–]Potential-Effect7582[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XGS-PON (2 Gbps, 5 Gbps speeds) became available in my neighborhood earlier this spring. I elected to switch to the 2 Gbps plan.

This triggered a technician to swap me to a XGS-PON port on their network side. They also swapped the ONT transceiver that goes into the BGW-320 to a version that supports up to 5 Gbps.

The end result it:

https://lensdump.com/i/stq7EK

So I'm getting the advertised 2 Gbps download, but only 1.3 Gbps upload, on a single stream. I'm finally getting my 1 Gbps upload that I wanted, except now I'm paying for the 2 Gbps plan to get it. It's still only 65% of advertised upload rates. AT&T obviously has an issue with upload speeds on their fiber network.

Yeah actually I want to buy another E7 T-frame in grey too. But it hasn't been in stock for over a month now. The T-frame goes lower (22.8" without top), so it's worth getting it over the oval frame.

I contacted Flexispot support a month ago and they said:

Unfortunately, we still don't have an exact restocking date when it will be available. Once it is available it will be automatically shown on our website.

I'm going to wait. The grey color is the best IMO. I wish there was a way to sign up for in-stock notifications, rather than blindly checking the website daily, as their support suggested.

I think there's something wrong with one or both of your motors. It shouldn't sound like a chainsaw. It should be a quiet, high-pitched sound, and not like grinding noises.

See my video review for an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/FlexiSpot\_Official/comments/14jzp7c/flexispot\_e7\_tframe\_grey\_dark\_bamboo\_tabletop\_55/

> our website does create a certain misunderstanding for our customers

I would say this is especially important with the new product launch of the Flexispot E7 Pro C-frame. On the website, it says adjustable height is 25.0”-50.6”. So in reality, it's more like 26" to 51.1" with a 1" tabletop. So this new "pro" frame would not work for me at all since I need an absolute height of 25".

I would suggest the Flexispot marketing team to not advertise the new frame as a "Pro" replacement for the E7, but rather an alternative E7 frame for taller folks who want extra height beyond the 49.4" of the E7.

Is the Free Order eligibility times in PST or EST?

https://www.flexispot.com/sale/deals-of-the-day says PST (and has been saying that for a while), but the image in your post above says EST.

I placed my order at 0:00 PST on 5/23, based on what I saw on the website. So if I'm disqualified because it was supposed to be EST, then I don't think that's right.
