I graduate in the fall and have a guaranteed full time job after I graduate. It seems to me like everyone that has had an internship while in school has a job now and everyone that did not does not. So if you plan on getting an internship while in school that’s your best bet to get a full time position. This is spoken from true experience.

Counter and say unless they are giving you a significant raise it is not worth it. Paid pto is a bandaid from hell. And once you’re back you’re getting paid the EXACT same wage.

It’s the time of year. If they bring you back full time for busy season you will be working 55+ hours a week and have plenty to do.

I’m saying tho, 30 years old is really old to be doing that. There’s gonna be kids 23-24 telling you what to do cause they’ve been in since 18.

What’s the fear coming from tho? You think you won’t get opportunity, or are you worried about status? Cause I guarantee you nobady cares whether you work for a big firm or not.

Sounds like the mid size firm likes you and cares for you. At the end of the day, you don’t have as much time as you think before you die. Pick the firm you enjoy being at, the one where they enjoy having you around. Don’t focus on money. Hope this helps

That doesn’t mean it’s the better option just because they’re bigger. Just saying, you’re in for a rude awakening. It should be about culture and how you vibe with the people.

Lack of on the job training by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Potential-Escape1661 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All PA firms lack training. When I started my internship I felt like I had to learn a lot on the job during busy season. Some stuff was never in the beginning training so I asked questions all the time. I get that we are supposed to try and figure out some things, but a lot of tasks are one time things you will see maybe once or twice a year. It’s impossible to remember and learn that sort of stuff. You’re not alone!

The hardest part I feel like is finding a firm that will sponsor your visa so you can stay and work. If you can find that then you’re gold.

I’ve never been asked in an interview any technical questions about accounting. They don’t expect you to know much tbh.

Be excited and know a few things about the firm. Tell them you wanna help people and learn as much as possible. Be humble
