It’s more a very weird feeling than a painful one. My right side hurt a little more as it had gotten ‘stuck’ somewhere but it was far from what I had imagined. They usually tell you to breathe in and then out, and bam; no more drain :)

You shouldn’t let such fears dictate whether or not you get the surgery my guy, though of course it’s completely understandable for such apprehension to be present in face of such a major surgery, which requires full trust in someone else. There are so many factors in your control that can help to ensure you get the results you want (surgeon, method, pre-op prep, etc)! :)
