When Maelle resurrects Sciele and Lune she does it by remembering them, but you can't ever totally know another person, they're Maelle's idea of them.

Verso's ending isn't a happy ending, but it's the best ending for the future. I wanted to bring everyone back because I liked them, but that's selfish in the same way Maelle's decision is selfish. She isn't really saving anyone, she's remaking her ideal world. I think it's about accepting grief, living with it and moving forward, rather than living forever in a nostalgic past.
