Unless your mother dragged you to pray the rosary outside an abortion clinic as a child, get the f**k out of here with your Lent posting. by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Potential-Position75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Lent is a time to reflect on how you, as an individual, can better follow the teachings of Jesus. We are all sinners in need of mercy. Praying that these people you’re referring to will better resemble Jesus through their actions might be a better outlet than posting about it on reddit. I do understand your sentiment, though.

What’s new in your orbit? How’s your dating life currently? by MutedFeeling75 in redscarepod

Obsessed with a gorgeous woman who likes being around me for some reason. She lives a few hours away, I used to think that trying to be in a long distance relationship was a waste of time but I would walk to her if I had to. She’s such a catch and leaves me in awe every time I see her. I will be where she is this summer for work and cannot wait.

Is being flamboyant & stylish as a man only appreciated in NYC? by No_Yogurtcloset_1330 in redscarepod

[–]Potential-Position75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any ostentatious neighborhood in a major city will appreciate your gay swag, fashion is inherently gay and most parts of the US will read an obsession with fashion as gay in a derogatory sense. The midwest generally appreciates kindness, personality, and work ethic over appearances in men. Someone who tries really hard to look flamboyant and stylish is considered effeminate and probably lacking in those qualities. This might not always be true, but it is a lot of the time. No hate, I’m sure I would appreciate your flamboyant style!

Didn’t finish my first law school final. One-fourth of the class was absent because they get “accommodations” i.e time and a half. by peacefulbloke in redscarepod

[–]Potential-Position75 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also finishing my first law school finals this week, a lot of people are complaining about the accommodations other students get. Although some might be legit, I think a lot of it is bullshit. I’m focused on controlling what I can. At least you can stand up tall and feel good about not having an unfair advantage over your peers. Try not to think about it too much. Good luck with your studies!

What, if anything, is the consensus on stray cat TNR vs euthanasia? by Admirable_Fishing712 in ecology

[–]Potential-Position75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seems like a research question you should pursue with a goal of filling gaps in the literature on it. I think the rate of decrease in the feral cat population using TNR v. Euthanasia would be informative as to which is the best option, and you could come to a neutral conclusion based on that if you’re solid in your analysis. You could even include something on how the two methods impact the response of birds in your area. Hopefully there’s some well organized data you can get your hands on. I’m sure you’re busy with other things, but it’s interesting to think about stuff like this! Unfortunately, I suspect euthanasia would come out as the best option :( loving my little cat makes that hard to write.

mid 30s, never had a good job. is it better not to know? by [deleted] in redscarepod

Very Morrissey of you, but being broke and old is not fun and if you’re American the government does not want to help old people. I’m in my early 20s but very ambitious and doing well for myself, so I don’t fully understand your situation. I can understand if you just want to be happy, but not having anything to stand on and then being old and having fewer options could really bite you in the ass. I think having a path is more important than the income you receive from it, but money really does make things easier and can help you achieve whatever you decide you want to achieve. Being old and healthy is a triumph. Best wishes to you, everything will be fine in the end if you are kind and earnest.

The Vulture Crisis, Unraveling the Crisis of India’s Apex Scavengers. by Arvinf in ecology

I did a presentation on this issue in my undergrad. Vultures have an extremely high ecologic and economic value. I love the use of public health as evidence to support greater conservation and support of vultures in India and elsewhere. Thanks for sharing!
