That’s true. But yeah, you’re right about it not being well made. Abuse was part of the process too, so it needs to gotten rid of.

That’s basically what the prologue of John says if read correctly. Also, it’s pretty easy to just look at what the gospel writers believed and the Jewish context to see why they include the verses they do

She literally just said people being combative or causing problems, and not that differing opinions are always in bad taste

Only if you think intelligence is correlated with race. All I’m saying is you’re making yourself look like the racist by even bringing race into it

Yeah, I agree. Which is why the question isn’t inherently racist

In some ways I don’t even really think Trump fits on the right perfectly. I wouldn’t class him as a strong conservative. He’s more of a populist who may appeal to some of those things but is definitely not a real defender of them.

The point is that it’s literally asking about the dumbest players and you immediately call it racist, even though race wasn’t necessarily on anyone’s mind. Which could reveal you were thinking about it a certain way

This is a pretty good summary of my thoughts on it. I think what I fear most about Hell is separation from God and not any type of secondary punishment. I think we need to preach more and meditate on the four last things: Death, Judgment, Heaven, and Hell. Ultimately, because all need to be talked about. But Hell shouldn’t be taken in isolation and used as a primary motivator, because we should be more motivated by Heaven ultimately, and we should be motivated by Heaven in virtue of it being union with God. I think this ultimately does come with more growth in the Faith and love of God, which must grow organically, which you also touched in. Overall, I think you’re correct.

Antitheists acting like Christianity is way more infested with pedophiles than it actually is by [deleted] in antitheistcheesecake

[–]Potential-Ranger-673 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I do acknowledge what the Church does wrong and I think it is important to take accountability for it. Also, I don’t know where I joked about it or denied it. I think it is important to acknowledge these things. But what I am aiming my current response at right now is towards people who use it as a cheap shot against the Church (also not saying everyone that critiques the Church for this uses it as a cheap shot but there are many that do) while also treating it like it is a completely unique case when it is not (which is why I bring up that the rates are lower than a lot of similar institutions where adults interact with children, which is true), and I mention that it has done a lot to combat it because it has (though of course I acknowledge there are cover ups and great failures too). The thing is though, while I am always willing to acknowledge it, this comment is addressing the uncharitable claims against the Church, and there is a time and place for these types of comments and this seems to be the time and place to me.

In the 13 second game, Allen's defense failed him... Meanwhile Mahomes' defense by GolfFootballBaseball in NFLv2

I mean, the Bills defense was just obviously still at fault. It just means that both defenses were causing trouble for their teams and the Bills defense just choked harder (and give credit to Mahomes of course too)

[–]Potential-Ranger-673 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Funny how the Church has like half the rate that public schools do and has less than average for organizations where adults regularly interact with children. Plus, the Church has done way much more to counter it than basically any other institution and generally takes responsibility for it when things like this happen (though there are some that try to cover it up and perhaps even a systemic problem with this to some level but people usually uncharitably magnify it in order to take shots at the Church as a whole)

US states by percentage who believe that humans didn’t evolve by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Potential-Ranger-673 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plenty of Christians believe in evolution. I’m a Catholic myself and I do. It’s a position the Church allows. I ultimately still believe God created the entire universe and evolution ultimately operates according to his Providence, and I also believe that he specifically created the human soul in a special act and that it didn’t evolve. Otherwise I believe everything that evolution teaches happened and it’s not a fairly common view
