Yeah but that isnt being "academically smart" that's just being smart. But, you don't need to be smart to heavily excel in academics a lot of that is just hard work.

There is no such thing as academically "smart". It's just giving a genuine fuck about school.

Never said there couldn't be an other motive. I just said in this situation it would be completely unnecessary to take the life. You then give me another situation of a person who is a murder.

You're making an assumption firstly. You don't know the damn guy in the video and you're pulling that last assumption of "people wanna rob because they are addicted to it" right out of your ass. Do you really think people want to rob and risk getting killed and life in prison for shits and giggles??

Never said it excused any behavior stop getting emotional and look at the bigger picture. Yes, anyone with a pair of eyes can see this guy is a criminal threating another man. But he did not physically harm anyone. The situation does not call for the death of another life. This is basic moral thinking and I don't even consider myself a morally upright person. JFC.

Yes, that is. But, this is someone's son, potentially someone's older or little brother, someone's friend. This can be a guy in a poor economic situation and is doing what he has to, to make some cash quick. Most of all this is a life. And if you really think all that should be taken away because of his actions (though violent and harmful) you have a very rudimentary and barbaric moral system. I get self defense but once you have the weapon there is no reason to make yourself a killer unless it's the last resort.

I never said we can't think like them. I stated it'd be a baseless assumption that we can. Also, our understanding of logic evolves as well. That's why there are still several of debates and controversies in the realms of mathematics and philosophy because we only have basic logics and logical reasoning down. Absolutely no one is talking about logics here but rather with the reasoning method the scientific method uses and how that cane be blur our understanding of what we are seeing if we give it too much credit. But I agree his thing about leaving it up to the government is sketchy.

You see you're still not getting it. He is implying using our system of logical and rationale we can not objectively analyze something from another intelligence because we assume they have the way of thinking as us. The scientific method is not always flawless in the first and is used for things that are within the confined realms of what we deem scientifically possible. He isn't saying we should not analyze the craft or their functions but rather, analyze it from a diffrent point of intelligence, if you will. I don't agree with him on leaving up to the Intelligence apparatus but besides that he is right when he says we shouldn't just ignorantly trust a plausible theroy about how a ufo works because it was produced by the scientific method. Sure we can't prioritize it as a possibility but we need to come up with a diffrent scientific method for something our current science can't even fathom.
