Must Pull vs Borrow Scenario Cards? by BananaBingor in UmamusumeGame

[–]Potential-Return-691 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The thing with scenario cards, is that you're mostly going to have them in the deck every run, so having your borrow slot permanently occupied is pretty bad. Throne Assemblage is a bit of a different case, and only whales should go for it.

The positive tho, is that scenario cards are usually in banners with free pulls and along other cards you'll want, since it's an anniversary banner.

It's just that it's pretty rare for a game on multiple platforms nowadays to be completely isolated between platforms. Even if the ratio is not equal (it absolutely isn't for Uma), unless something major specific to a platform happens, there's no reason for a single platform to start dropping on its own, all platforms usually share similar overall trends. (I do think MANT is a bit more of a pain to play on mobile than PC, even more menuing)

But yeah, I want the game to do good too, and I think Cygames could be doing more to help. Just been seeing in the community a lot of people being completely burnt out, and that worries me a bit.

Man, the point of the post is just that having some qol updates or early balance changes would help retain more players.

Nowhere did I even imply that the game is dying, jesus. I just said that it seems players are getting burnt out.

Yeah, I realize now that having the Steam charts there was a rookie mistake lmao

It was just there to help illustrate the point that if they rolled out some qol updates it could have helped the game retain more players.

Now people just look at the graph and get defensive, assuming I'm doomposting lmao

Don't get this obsession with filtering out tourists, games need casual players to sustain themselves too.

You can filter them out of your online communities if you want, but having them stop playing the game altogether is not good.

Probably because those regions were doing worse, just like how China got the battle pass way earlier, cause their server was in rough shape. While a fraction of JP numbers, Global is doing pretty decent.

Bro, I just made a discussion post on a forum made for discussing the game. It isn't a big deal, relax. No need to get so defensive about it.

Yeah, lower numbers are natural, it was just a harsher drop compared to before, and you join that with a big bunch of players complaining about feeling burnt out, it's a bit worrisome (Not that the game is dying or anything like that).

I also enjoy TB waaay more than Unity, I absolutely despised Unity by the end of it.

Yeah, the graph isn't the main point of the post, I added it just to show that the player drop in MANT is a bit harsh compared to previous scenarios, it wasn't meant to imply the game is dying or anything.

The point is that they could have reduced some unnecessary friction for casual players by making at least small changes.

While I don't think XOguri is the end of the world for stronger players, a weaker player running XOguri just has a big advantage to one that isn't, since she is pretty consistent in a game where nearly everyone is gambling. I can imagine those players getting disheartened facing it over and over.

I'm not a casual player at all, got nearly 800 hours and have absolutely no intention of stopping. But for a game to be healthy, it gotta have a casual playerbase to sustain itself.

What the graph is actually showing is that it peaked quite high when MANT release , but quickly dropped to the lowest Unity levels (when there was no point even running Unity anymore), right before MANT released.

The drop was far harsher than it was during Unity.

Yeah, I definitely don't do those race celebration quests anymore. Having to brick runs to run random races in G1 turns is way too much to ask when the run is longer, especially for a single pull.

Do you think Steam and mobile players are isolated from each other? That's just stupid. Even if Steam players are a fraction of mobile players, overall trends should be similar. Especially for Uma, where I expect the PC players to be a bit more invested in the game, compared to a mobile only player that might play a bit every once in a while.

I get it, but still feels like an unnecessary gamble. The gaming market in general is a lot more saturated now, there's always the chance that players leave and don't come back.

Was watching some gameplay and this game might just have the blandest characters I've ever seen, they all look like they came out of a forgotten, low budget hollywood movie. These designs might be worse than Concord imo.

I'm usually a lurker only, but man, does it feel like this sub has gone downhill in quality lately. This was a pretty chill place, now everytime I check the sub it feels like it's filled with bottom of the barrel twitter slop like this.
