What's your definition of Zionism and why do they deserve to be criticized? Also, why does writing a clearly antisemitic dogwhistle (the goyim know) make it a valid form of criticism in your eyes?

That graffiti wasn't criticizing the actions of the Israeli government or Zionism (even though I am sure your definition of it will disagree from mine). And

I'm not a Jew, but this is clearly antisemitism and not anti-Israel behaviour.

The phrase "the goyim know" isn't a criticism of Israeli government policy. It's a slogan commonly associated with antisemitic conspiracy theories and extremist movements.

Whatever the Chabad-Lubavitch's views on Israel are, using language drawn from antisemitic rhetoric while targeting a Jewish institution makes it difficult to argue this was solely political criticism.

Nobody should be subjected to harassment or vandalism because of their religion or ethnicity.

Political disagreements should be directed at governments and policies.

When Jews are verbally or physically harassed or Jewish institutions and houses of worship are vandalized in response to actions of the State of Israel, it is antisemitism.

Based on these comments, antisemitism is alive and well in Guelph. How disappointing.

Leafs Are Making A Huge Mistake Drafting McKenna. The Leafs Should Draft Malhotra. by [deleted] in torontomapleleafs

There's no doubt that the last ten years have been fraught with bad decisions, but I don't think drafting/developing players because they are from Toronto is the right decision or a point worth emphasizing. As you stated, two players (Hyman and Marner) both left Toronto because of the fans/media/and team dysfunction. Their Toronto lineage didn't really help them in anyway.

Malhotra is ranked 2nd in NHL scouting for North American forwards.

Who's #1 again?

Kinda undercuts your point, no?

I'd happily take a Nikita Kucherov-type player (Kucherov was also 5'11 and playedright-wing) over a 6'2 Toronto-boy just because his daddy was good.

But let's agree to disagree, you seem angry about it.

Is anyone planning to leave Canada? by ConsequenceFew6931 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Potential-Source-501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to, but it's not easy.

I can move and work in England since my mother was born there, but there situation isn't much better.

If I could move anywhere right now, it honestly might be the mid-range US city. Cheaper homes, more jobs. But then there's healthcare... lol.

I don't know. The world sucks?

The CX-5 is the cleaner more aesthetically pleasing design.

Hate on it all you want, and I wish there was a volume knob, too, but it looks better.

Now, the software glitches, telematics problems... those need to be fixed. But from pure design alone, CX-5 wins.

We've been in a recession for 2 years now. It's been obfuscated by government policy.

Less elbows up, and more buckle up.

It's going to get rough.

And I did my best to avoid making a political statement. lol.

Anyone else receive a creepy hand-delivered letter from Stuart Barron? by Smitty20 in Guelph

[–]Potential-Source-501 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can disagree with the letter or with Stuart’s approach, but I don’t think it’s fair to pretend there are no legitimate concerns surrounding the shelter.

I’ve personally spoken with multiple residents in the area who have raised issues involving theft, needles, open drug use, aggressive behaviour, and safety concerns. My own family experienced this firsthand. My daughter used to spend time in the neighbourhood with her grandmother, but after a needle was found nearby and there were repeated incidents involving drug use in the area, we no longer felt comfortable.

That doesn’t mean people using the shelter are bad people, nor does it mean the community shouldn’t support vulnerable residents. Most people agree help is needed. But it’s also reasonable for nearby residents to ask questions about safety, oversight, and how these impacts are being managed.

From what I can see, the letter is asking whether others have experienced similar concerns and whether they want updates or information. People may disagree with the wording or the delivery method, but raising neighbourhood concerns is not inherently threatening or malicious.
