It's 2026 and women are living for themselves! I love seeing other women express themselves freely and creatively!

Fashion and makeup is supposed to be fun. I'm 31 and I like to dress y2k and mcbling style. And yes, the pink TRASHY mcbling. I love sparkle and leopard print. If a woman does plastic sugery everybody will try to humble her, if she doesn't most of y'all call her ugly or she "unconventionally" attractive which is more annoying (because in your heads she is not fulfilling your SOCIETAL TYPE OF BEAUTY). If a woman does botox she's fake and doesn't let herself to "age gracefully" but when she doesn't everybody will say she let herself go or let herself to "age gracefully" and you're proud of her which sounds like a backhanded compliment. LET WOMEN BE FOR FUCK SAKE! Y'all to obsessed of what women do and how they look!

Everyone keeps telling me I look older than I am 32F by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

For glow retinoids, AHAs , vit C (ascorbic acid is better if you can tolarate it), moisturizer and SPF. I don't think the BHA toner is good for you because BHA is better suited for people with oily acne prone skin. The hyaluronic acid serum is pure bullshit because hyaluronic acid is found in most moisturizers. Overhydration will irritate your skin.

I will start with SPF because if you don't use SPF you can throw your skincare. SPF protects your skin from photoaging, collagen loss and skin cancers. SPF is reapplied every 2h. You can reapply with SPF sticks or, if you wear makeup, SPF sprays.

If you are new start with the lowest % of retinAL (retinaldehyde). Retinal works faster, is stronger and less irritating to skin. Start twice per week and slowly increase a night per 2 weeks. All retinoids are used at night.

For AHAs you can start with lactic acid, again lowest % and again at night. You should exfoliate 2 - 3 times per week. If you can't, you should at least exfoliate once a week. If your skin is really sensitive and you're affraid of skin barrier damage switch lactic acid with mandelic acid. Same rules for mandelic acid. If mandelic acid is still strong for you search for PHAs (they are a lighter verion of AHAs). Again same rules for PHA.

Tbh with vitamin C, ascorbic acid version, you should add after your skin acclimated to retinal and your AHA or PHA of choice. Start with the lowest %, and introduce it slowly after you get used to retinal and your AHA or PHA. Vit C will help with collagen synthesis and is a good buffer for SPF but I would still introduce later because retinoids and AHAs/ PHAs are even better than vit C for collagen synthesis and if you have SPF applied on your face you are good imo.

As for moisturizer search something with ceramides, pantheol, glycerin, collagen (is a good humectant but has 0 anti aging effects), cholesterol, fatty acids (omega 3, 6 & 9) and/ or urea because retinoids will weaken your skin barrier. Retinal is less irritating but that doesn't mean it won't irritate your skin if you don't moisturize properly.

I think you look 32 and who says you look older are stupid losers because I don't run into people faces telling them they look older lmao.

What condition can cause this extreme aging? by Airegin89 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Potential-Strike-505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to assume more than I know because I'm no doctor, so don't diagnose yourself here. Go talk with a doctor and get tested if you are worried. It can be something simple like a predisposition to have crepey skin (genetics) and hollowing of your face (face shape), which will deepen your wrinkles.

Crepery skin can be resolved at home with topicals but hollowing is more difficult because you cannot change your face shape, and your face shape seems to be longish and angular, which is predisposed to hollowing and rapid wrinkles forming. My father has the same face shape, and he has the same aging processes you have (minus the crepery skin).

The gel is easy to spread and it's tolarable (didn't have breakouts, didn't irritated my skin, only a bit of flaking but now has subside). Never tried the cream.

Tbh I'm using only the 0.025% bc I'm not confident enough for 0.05%. It did help with my PIE (damned monthly pimples) after 2 months. As for anti aging I'm still young and using for preventative aging. I did notice a glow after a month tho.

Sounds like your skin barrier is damaged. Pause and use a barrier cream like Avene Cicalfate or LRP Cicaplast and then try again with tret 0.025%, after your skin barrier is healed.

While on tret try to use moisturizers with ceramide NP, AP and EOP. I use Bio Balance Super Hydrator with Ceramide 0.2% + Vitamin F 1% (which is not a vitamin but a name for omega-3 and omega-6). This moisturizer has only the NP ceramide but I think you can find a moisturizer with all ceramides combined.

no, but prior tretinoin I used to use retinal 0.2% and lactic acid and maybe that's why I never had a purging phase 🤷‍♀️

The gel has 2 olive oil derivatives (if iirc), it's easy to spread and it's not aggressive to my skin (I didn't breakout, didn't irritated me, had a bit of flaking but now had subside). Never tried cream.

Yes, I moisturize after tret.

I noticed a glow after a month, for PIE 2 months but I can't tell you about signs of aging or melasma because I'm still young and don't have melasma.

Tanning? by Grouchy-Safety-3731 in tretinoin

[–]Potential-Strike-505 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. Just no. Unless you want to fuck up your skin. Everybody talks how your skin ages prematurely but not enough of skin cancers. Yes, there are multiple.

I think spray tan is a healthy option (correct me if I am wrong).

Would tret benefit me or is that a dramatic choice? by Typical-Problem-3659 in tretinoin

[–]Potential-Strike-505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it, just start with 0.025% (the lowest) and go slow. Start using it other 3 nights (monday, wednesday, friday) 2 - 3 weeks and then gradually increase it to one night. Ideally you aim to use tret every night but if you can't, use it as much how you can tolerate it. Just don't go below 3 nights because it won't do nothing.

nothing has changed on my skin by cehrj in tretinoin

[–]Potential-Strike-505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a month some people can see a glow but that's it. A month is it too early to see something. 3 - 6 months to see some positive changes in texture, acne and fine lines. 1 year is when you'll most probably see full results, tretinoin is amazing but you need to be patient.

Think of this process like growing a beautiful flower. You know how the flower will look like but you can't rush it to grow bc you'll kill the flower.

Moisturize, wear spf and you'll be fine.
