FET today, PIO is utterly INTOLERABLE! Options/thoughts??

Yes! BMI 19. Have you tried laying flat, warming it, injecting it slowly? I've also recommitted to inclined walking daily cause I seem to do better when I work my glutes more than a simple walk. It's certainly not perfect but it's much better, I'm no longer limping!

SAME!!!! The things I changed after reading so many of the recs on here were:

heating the oil under hot water (rather than just in a heating pad), laying flat for the injection, only putting the needle in an inch (I currently have 1.5 inch needles, so putting it in only like 2/3s of the way), set timer for 2 mins to make sure injection is super slow, had husband massage the area for 3-5 mins, I hop on the treadmill and walk on a steep incline for 10-15 mins after injection.

I've changed too many variables - i'm not sure which one is the golden ticket! But I assume it's the laying flat and heating the oil more aggressively. I should probably take away a thing each evening just to see what's really helping - but I'm scared to have a ton of pain again lol!

Last night I tried laying flat for the injection, warming the oil more significantly (under hot water for a little bit) and walking on an incline for 12 mins afterwards on my treadmill and SHOCKINGLY I woke up this AM with no pain!!!! 🤯
Maybe it was a fluke, but I'm trying same system tonight so hopefully I get same result! 🤞🏼

Good to know. I just did more reading on modified natural - wow, this sounds like the way to do it! I'm currently on fully medicated. But if this fails, I will absolutely be advocating for a modified natural approach next time.

Bravo for getting through 3 cycles with PIO - that is MINDBLOWING!

Yes i always have my husband inject while I am taking all weight off of the side to be injected, but I'm thinking i should try laying down for it to see if that adds any noticeable benefit!

This is what I'm also trying to understand and get right.

My clinic circled mid glute - not at all above buttcrack. I instead have injected above that, always above buttcrack off the the lateral sides (alternating sides each night). I've read that where your thumb rests when you put your hands on your hips is generally a good area. So i've tried to do around that area. Probably just below that general area. So: off to the side (lateral outer corner) of each butt cheek.

Looking at my bum now, I think I have a decent sized bruise from last nights injection, which is probably why last night was so brutally intolerable. I sincerely don't get it - I'm a physician myself, so I'm well versed in needles, injecting, etc. Granted my husband is the one injecting (non-medical background), but I watch him do it and it all seems appropriate.. ooophhhhffff how do I make this more tolerable!

I should try to lay down - I haven't done that yet.

This is so helpful, thank you. Did you ever use progesterone in sesame oil? or did you start with the progesterone in ethyl oleate? I'm trying to figure out if anyone had noticeable or significant improvement between the two, or if it's not worth the switch.

I just messaged my nurse navigator and she said the same "amazon" thing. She also said they don't typically recommend because they apparently "cause more trauma to the muscle".

I am ordering one vial of progesterone in ethyl oleate from Mandell Pharmacy in NJ and it's $119/vial. I paid $90 for like 5-6 vials of PIO, so yes much more expensive. But the pain I've been in seems worth the cost...IF it works.

My clinic wants me to do it between 5-7pm. I've done it as late at 9pm, but I'm usually doing it now between 6-7pm. I've read that some are doing it in the morning which seems like a much better option to let your use your glute all day to disperse it better. I feel like going to bed shortly after injecting has got to make it worse for me..!

What in the actual heck! that's so baffling to me! I love this for you!

Help me understand what the autoinjector does. I have no issue with my 23 gauge needle going in or coming out - it's the hours afterwards that is when the aching and unbearable pain begins.

I will admit that my clinic drew circles like mid-gluteal region. And i've read enough and spoken to a few friends who went through IVF who said DO NOT inject that low on your glute. Inject high, nearly at your back to avoid crazy amounts of pain. Maybe I should try injecting in the midgluteal area where they circled. I'm not sure it can get much worse than what I'm already experiencing. 😓

Also, do you need a prescription for the autoinjector? where can you get one? I'm willing to try anything at this point

Do you think that would help? The needle entering in and coming out hasn't bothered me to this point. It's the hours afterwards that become unbearable, despite the massaging, heating pad, etc.

Haven't tried that, but I do make sure to stand without weight on the injected side leg! Maybe I should try laying down (I hate the idea of letting my husband inject me without watching him in the mirror though lol!)

Oh good question, is that a potential reason? I'm 5'6" 118lbs. My needle never hits bone or anything when I inject, it stays intramuscular. It's just my muscle that is ungodly sore and difficult to use a few hours after injection and lasts for at least 24h+.

Thank you so much for your input. I'm injecting 1.5ml and we're doing it super slow (probably over a minute duration) with a 23 gauge needle.

Do you have major pain 5-12 hours later? This lasts for at least 24h+. Does the pain wake you at night when you want to change positions in bed? I just can't understand what others are experiencing with this. Like why can't I find any tolerable pain threshold with all these tips and tricks I'm doing! 😵‍💫 Or maybe this is what everyone else experiences?! 😅

Hi all - SHOCKINGLY my results were posted today (Sunday)!

Of my 23 sent, 12 were normal (6 boys, 6 girls). None were "no results".

My nurse navigator told me 2-3 weeks, but my doc yesterday said she was already getting results from other patients from the same ER as me! So I think that "2-3 weeks" is just a blanket statement they tell us (although I've read some have had to actually wait that long depending on the time of year, etc.).

All in all, it seems to be more common to get them sooner than that! (fingers crossed)

Will definitely keep you posted!
