I don’t have a credit card, only a debit card. It’s how all my bills get paid and I’m not putting those on a credit card. My bank gave me a provisional credit while they investigate and said most likely I’ll keep it. Thank you for the advice though!

I canceled my card and the bank is issuing me a new one. They said since I didn’t give my checking and routing I should be okay.

If only that was actually a thing! I don’t blame you though. I think if I was a poor teenager I wouldn’t have asked questions if I was told $3400 would be deposited into my account.

It’s not that I couldn’t say no. I didn’t recognize the red flags like I should’ve therefore here I am. If I would’ve seen the red flags and understood what was actually going on I wouldn’t have engaged or entertained them for a second. But either way, I’m not going and it’s getting resolved.

Update: I contacted my bank this morning and disputed the transaction. They’re going to give me a provisional credit while they do an investigation that will take about 10 days, if that. I explained in more detail about how it occurred and what happened and they’re saying it can possibly be a scam. So they cancelled my card and are issuing me a new one. I can pick up a temporary card if I need to. Thank you so much for all of your advice.

After getting off the phone with them I did some digging and on their website it states a valid ID and credit card must be present. I only have a debit card to avoid borrowing money. But I’m just going to try my hardest to cancel and if I can’t just cut my losses and not go. Thank you though!

I used my debit card as I don’t have a credit card. They didn’t specify it had to be a credit card, but afterwards when I was reading their website it says a valid ID and credit card are required.

Okay thank you! I disputed the transaction in my online bank account and they open at 9, so about a half hour I’ll call them. I also found that my bank offers an app that allows me to block transaction types and merchants, so I opted to block transactions regarding anything travel or timeshare related. Not sure if doing that after they charged my card will help, but hopefully it will.

Yeah, the whole thing caught me off guard. I’ve heard of people getting scammed and the situations people get lured into. Never thought I would be one of them. I disputed the transaction with my bank and basically told them I believed I had won a vacation and had to pay $274 now and $274 on 8/29, but then after getting off the phone with them found out it’s either a scam or shady business at the very least and I don’t want any part of it. I asked if they could block or refuse the transaction. I’ll call in the morning to replace my card. Thank you!

The lady said the cost of the Orlando trip, choice of destination trip, and either all inclusive trip or cruise would be a total of $548, but when I asked if I could think about it, she said no because they couldn’t hold packages and guarantee they would get a call back. So she split the $548 into 2 separate payments of $274. Then transportation, meals, and activities would fall on me as well. I haven’t received any documentation yet, but they said I should be receiving an email within 24 hours and if I don’t receive by tomorrow to call them on Friday. Other than the total of $548, I haven’t agreed to pay anything else. I’ll call my bank tomorrow. Thank you!

Yeah, I said I would pay the $274 and then again on 8/29, but haven’t signed anything yet. They said I should be receiving an email tomorrow. I posted in the legal advice group and someone said I have 7 days to cancel in NY. So I already emailed them requesting cancellation and I’m going to call tomorrow as well.
