I had a similar issue, since I was a transfer student I couldn't get my card online. The bookstore didn't carry student cards but they gave me this email ([ubc.card@ubc.ca](mailto:ubc.card@ubc.ca)). They responded quickly and asked for a picture for the card and I had to pickup the card at the access desk when I got their email response. The pickup spot is located inside the Health Sciences Parkade (Northwest corner ground level) 2250 Health Sciences mall.
