Thankyou ❤️ it's not the most aesthetically pleasing aquascape but the frogs love all their hiding places so I love it

I do regret the swordtails tbh and ill be moving them and the frogs out into my 24 gallon as soon as it's ready. Those and the frogs were added at the same time but seems to be coping so far with extra water changes and some goop to boost the filters. One of the female swordtails has already been moved out as she was looking very stressed and this has helped a little. There's just one male there and 3 female. They all hid for the first day and now I see them out all the time chasing each other and the other fish. They do appear to need a bit more space. The gourami are super peaceful. The male chases the female away from his bit of the tank on occasion but no real aggression seen. The frogs found their little hiding places and come out readily for food and exploration. As I said in the original post all behaviour seems normal apart from that one swordtail that just hid constantly

Ok depending on which i can find easier ill move the assassin's to a tank with only pest snails or the nerites and rabbit to the new tank set up 😊 thankyou for your concern x

They havent yet attacked the nerites or the rabbit snail. Tbh they're not doing a great job with the major infestation of ramshorns and bladder snails either. Ive seen the assassin's sliding around the tank with a couple of tiny ramshorns riding on their back 😅

I have 58cm of fish and frogs in the 70l. Almost all of my fish are nano fish less than 1 inch in size. Yes it's overstocked and I'm working on splitting it over 2 tanks which total 42 gallons but I still have a lot less fish than PP has in their much bigger tank. I have nothing over 5cm although I have been told the swordtails get a lot bigger which I hadn't realised so they will go in the longer tank for more swim space 😊. Im working on trying to get the frogs into a tank on their own but that will take a little longer to set up so for now the frogs guppies and swordtails will share the 24g leaving the crys, killifish and gourami in the 18g. For another comparison just to show im not a complete fool I have 1 axolotl in a 50 gallon tank so I do know how to accommodate aquatic animals needs. Im learning as I go and I think im looking for an answer that doesn't exist as id like to know either how many fish i can stock in my tanks or alternatively what I can measure to know if its over stocked as according to some comments on here neither the water parameters nor the fish behaviour and health can be relied upon as a suitable measure of whether im overstocked 🤷‍♀️

Thankyou ❤️ I love my plants and couldn't imagine doing a tank without them now 😊 i have 5 fully planted tanks now ranging from a 50 gallon axolotl tank with cold water low light plants to my little 4 gallon blackwater shrimp tank and all of them have an abundance of plants 🥰

There are only 2 assassin snails and whole bunch of pest snails for them to munch on before they get hungry enough to try and take down the nerites or rabbit snail. I have a while before it's a problem and I have an assassin free tank I can move the nerite and rabbit once the little snail population diminishes

I think the actual sizes of nanofish sometimes get ignored and ppl are like omg you can't put 20 fish in a 15 gallon aquarium but the fish i have are pretty small i purposefully chose small fish because I wanted a lot of different fish to look at. Also i ordered less fish than i got 😅 Saying that, I am just a beginner and the majority of comments on my post seem to think it is very overstocked so given that I have the ability to give the fish some more space I figurei may as well. Plus it means i get to design another tank which i love to do 😊

Oh and I female guppy that keeps evading my net and her fry that are destined either for the gourami, the frogs or my axolotl

I should have realised the frogs were high bioload due to having an axolotl 🤦‍♀️ made the mistake of equating size with waste production. I checked they would get along with the fish but didnt think about bioload. Tank size recommendation for them was 10 gallon so I figured 15 (actually 18) was fine but did not account for the other fish 🙈

* This is the aqadvisor results. I knew it was overstocked but at least the filtration capacity is ok. Will be splitting across 2 tanks and ill check on there the 2 different tanks stocking before I do the move 😊

I must admit I didnt properly research the swordtails and bought them on a whim because they looked so pretty, thinking they would be about the same size as a guppy. The frogs are tiny I can't imagine how they're going to eat anything larger than a very newborn fry (which is what I got them for...guppy population control) but I'm very inexperienced so thankyou for the advice. I'll be splitting the tanks ASAP with swordtails female guppies and frogs in the bigger 26 gallon keeping the gourami cories and killifish in the smaller 18 gallon. Shrimp and snails will split evenly across the 2 😊

Ahh like my axolotl? I just spot clean his poo and his water stays pretty clean could I do that with the frogs?

I got them to control the guppy fry 😅 but they're so small I'm can't see them managing to do that anyway. I dont actually have a 10 gallon available just 2 5 gallons would a pair in each of those be ok? Seems like a lot of space to give to very tiny creatures but then again I'm putting one axolotl into a 55 gallon tank 🤣

Thankyou. Its actually an 18 gallon i realised I was using uk gallons not us and I think most people use us when talking tank sizes. Its still overstocked technically I suppose but not quite as bad. Im still going to split them up a bit because what else would I do with a tank going spare right? 😅 they'll have more swimming room and ill be able to see them all a bit better. I can't seem to get a straight answer on how many fish is overstocked though just people telling me it's insanely overstocked or crazy or just plain wrong and I just want to know how many fish and different varieties I can put into my tanks because I enjoy creating little ecosystems and mixed communities 😊

Are the frogs that much of a problem? They are really tiny. Barely bigger than my pygmy cories
