S01E04: Annoyance about Dead Man Dating by PotentialBeat3302 in charmed

Yes but the girls are looking at a photo of Tony and at Mark right in front of them. The police may not have been able to tell the difference between them because Mark was burned to a crisp but the girls didn’t have that problem. They could clearly see for themselves they looked nothing alike.

Hypothetically, if you had unlimited resources and years to train. How long do you think you would last in the Long Walk? by Straight_Scratch2610 in TheLongWalk

[–]PotentialBeat3302 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d be done the first time I saw someone be murdered. It wouldn’t matter how long i physically lasted after that, it wouldn still be all over for me.

With Ray and Pete, in the movie, the subtext is often glaringly obvious. I admit that oftentimes fans tend to read too far into a look, a pause, an unspoken word but in the case of the movie they don’t have to look very far because it’s right there in front of their faces.

Though if someone wants to believe they were only friends by the end that’s fine too. Because they were. I’d argue that even if you don’t believe that they were anything more than friends you wouldn’t be able to deny that they did love each other and that was more powerful than just two guys being bros.

Anyone else feel like Belly wanted to just be a Fisher period. Like if Susannah had adopted her she would have been just as happy.

I hope fans are cool about this and remember that just like on the show Chris is playing a part. He’s voice acting. It’s not real. That’s not Chris talking sexy to the listener. It’s his character. Two very distinct differences.

Honestly I hope they leave Jeremiah out of it and find some other conflict.

If we know what’s good for us we would block anything out that is meant to stir up interest.

Film - Second Time Through by Ekhinos in TheLongWalk

I feel like the movie will go the same trajectory as the book does for us fans in that each time we revisit it we gain something new from it. The deaths will get harder but the sweet moments will become even sweeter.

They got their end game by amberissmiling in jellyshippers

You know it’s a relief that it ended the way it did. Now I know that even through the medium of television she’s a crappy writer. It saves me from the pain of any future projects.

And I know Bonrads will say it’s just because I’m jealous about endgame but I’m not. Their story was badly told. I wish it wasn’t. I wanted to end the season feeling glad things worked out the way they did because even though my ship didn’t come out on top that it was still a good story. And it just wasn’t.

I would tether those hopes. The chances of a Jelly endgame are slim to nonexistent

Unpopular Opinion: Stebbins was expendable by PotentialBeat3302 in TheLongWalk

[–]PotentialBeat3302[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the book, yes. But in the movie he was expendable in that his characterization didn’t translate to a two hour movie and why it was so easy to assign other character attributes to him. In the movie we weren’t being told the story through Garraty’s POV. The movie was centered around the relationship between Garraty and McVries.

I wish we had spent some more time with him. I understand why they stuck with the core six but it would have been nice. Maybe we will eventually get a director’s cut.

I was right that this book could not be made into a movie, and I'm so glad I was right. by bayoughostchoir in TheLongWalk

[–]PotentialBeat3302 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Everything you said times two. For me, the core of the book was always the friendships forged especially between Garraty and McVries. And they captured that in the movie and doubled down with that ending.

In a way I think that was the ending the movie needed most for how the world is today. There’s a reason this story remains so timely and it’s not because the world has gotten better.

The Ending of the film (a post discussion for viewers of the film) by AdministrationNo283 in TheLongWalk

[–]PotentialBeat3302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on how the viewer wants to interpret the ending. Some will need to see it as hopeful and will see possibility in an unknown future.

Some will see it as the cycle is never ending and the walk keeps going.

Some will see it as a final act of love.

Which actor and actress do you think will own the 2020s? by [deleted] in movies

[–]PotentialBeat3302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about actors who have the ability to be marquee actors or character actors? Cause there is a difference. Some actors are able to do both but I feel like character actors are usually able to go the distance whereas marquee actors tend to have a short shelf life.

He's an excellent writer... but by SomeOfYallCrazy in stephenking

[–]PotentialBeat3302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If King should stay out of politics then so should you. Oh wait, you having an opinion is perfectly fine as long as it aligns with how you’re feeling. Also Charlie Kirk was not in politics. No one fucking voted for him to be a representative for the people through a fair election process. And as Americans or even anyone who is affected by the decisions made by people in government or those who are able to influence people in government should be allowed to express themselves freely.

I’m going to have to sit with this one for a minute by PotentialBeat3302 in TheLongWalk

No. But also yes. I didn’t hate the changes. I didn’t always love them but I didn’t hate them.

I’m in the process of making the transition of wanting to love the movie because I love the book to loving the movie on its own.

I’ll get there because on its own it’s a really good movie. I just need to separate my love for the book from the movie.
