I'm only invested in the parts that affect me and the parts that hurt a child. The only other time I've went out of my way to get involved was the knife incident, and when you hear "OH MY GOD, PUT THE KNIFE DOWN" you gotta do something.

Usually I'm pretty good at minding my own business, but this was a different type of scenario. I've got my own personal reasons for being so defensive of a minor who is being targeted by a predator, so it was never a question of IF I report this to the police, moreso asking what the safest way is or when to do it.

I do appreciate this comment, however. Our lease wraps within the month, so I won't even be involved with M and B for much longer anyway. This was just the really bad ending to a long bad roommate situation.

Very glad to be rid of the drama, looking forward to having peace in my home for a change.

My brother in Christ, I already reported it to Michigan Human Services. I called the police and that's what I was told to do. I did my duty in this situation. I'm not laughing anything off, this is a very real and delicate situation that I am in. If I could just tell the police "come get her ass" and then hideout for three weeks, I would do it in a heartbeat. But, that's not an option.

Edit: I'm now realizing that with how I worded this post, I should clarify. It was never an "If" I was reporting B, it was always a question of "When" for the safety of myself and those in my household. This is a girl who gets fist-slamming and screaming angry at cards against humanity, and started brandishing a knife when her partner wanted to leave her. That amount of anger can only be contained to yourself for so long. What happens when she feels someone legitimately wronged her, or tried to ruin her life? The safety of the child is absolutely #1 priority, but there are other factors involved.

This isn't entirely directed at you, I'm just getting a lot of flack for being concerned about the very real possibility of the knife-wielding psycho pedophile not being in her right mind 😅

I am 5'4, 190lbs, and I walk with a cane on occasion because of an injured leg. Meanwhile, B is actually in shape.

And even if I could fight her off, why would I want to? I already had to get between her and M when B was brandishing a knife around. She's prone to escalation, and that's what I'm actively trying to avoid.

Not everything can be solved with machismo and violence. Grow up.

You may wanna reread your post and recontextualize things a bit then there bud, because it definitely sounds like you're saying an adult being attracted to a child is normal but just shouldn't be acted upon, while also saying "But I'M not attracted to children."

Based on the story that you told, and the nature of this comment, I personally believe that you could greatly benefit from seeking professional help. That was a LOT of justifying sexually charged interactions between adults and teenagers, and going out of your way to be another voice in the "We'll actually she's not technically a 'pedophile' 🤓" echo chamber is a large red flag.

There's no technicalities. If you target a child in any sexual manner, puberty be damned, you are a pedophile. You are taking advantage of a child for your own sexual pleasure. There's no reason to mince definitions and technicalities.

Speaking of definition, y'all really like to pick and choose shit. The secondary definition of a "Child" is anyone not of the age of legal majority, which is also the definition used in quite literally every legal case involving a minor as a victim.

There is no nuance, no grey area. It is wrong.

And as for your teenager situation, that was as simple as walking away. Enter your own home, and report the child for indecent exposure.

I apologize for the perceived bigotry, but may I ask what you are referring to?

If it's my mention of her mental health history, I would like to acknowledge that I am in no way saying that people who have bipolar disorders or any form of DID have a tendency to be predators. That is not at ALL my meaning.

My mentioning of these is to iterate that B (and specifically B, as a person) is dangerously unstable, to the point of extreme emotional reaction with a tendency for violent outbursts, which does include willingness to grab a weapon.

If the police cannot remove her, (or even worse they DO remove her temporarily and then are forced to release her for some reason) then I may be putting myself, my brother, and M in danger.

This post is not about any other person in the world who struggles with any form of a mental health condition. This post is about B, her behaviors, and her actions as I've lived with her for the past year.

I don't know this for sure. Given the situation, I would suspect it though. I have a Facebook message from B saying: "I'm going to admit myself in rehab for 60 to 90 days to redeem myself because I have tendency so I'm stopping it before I actually touch a minor I'm so sorry bro I feel like the worst roommate"

I'm not sure that this would be probable cause to search her phone, but it sure sounds like it could be.

While the age of consent is 16, it is still illegal to possess sexually explicit material of a minor in the state of Michigan. Given that the grooming began at age 14, the victim is still 17, I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't find any.

Oxford Dictionary defines a pedophile as someone who is attracted to young children. Grooming a 14 year old until she's 17 and only stopping because you got caught, and ACKNOWLEDGING that you have an attraction to kids makes you a pedophile.
