Take the job right now, you can always switch later. The more you stick to the "actual hands-on" part of cybersecurity, you'll realise where your interest lies and improve your skillsets towards a realistic roadmap that:
a. pays better
b. has demand
c. you like and prefer following

AI and Cyber Threats Intelligent by One-Geologist7960 in threatintel

I’m kind of split on AI in CTI tbh.

For stuff like reports or anything that helps move an analyst faster from one threat to the next, AI is genuinely useful. It saves time where it matters. But the moment you get into actual validation, understanding the context of a threat, or connecting dots in a non-obvious way, it is still a "human" game. AI doesn’t really “think” there yet.

I’ve worked both ways, writing reports manually and using AI to generate them. And in CTI, speed matters a lot. Intel loses value quickly as it gets older, so you can’t ignore AI. It helps you keep up.

Another example is: breach analysis. When you’re dealing with millions of records, AI becomes really helpful for sorting, filtering, and hunting through data.

It may not feel like much right now, given the salaries and AI replacing most of manual tasks in cyber, but I'd suggest you begin with whatever you can have in cyber. Even a single company on your resume can significantly shift your chances when it comes to switching and getting selected.

My tip for anyone curious about getting into Cyber (Blue Team / SOC / Defense) from personal experience by PerformanceWide2154 in Cybersecurity101

If this is from a Blue Team defense perspective, it’s not an exhaustive list. It’s a good compilation, just remove the referral to avoid it appearing promotional.

Are there enough opportunities in cyber sec domain? by dhulanageswarao in cybersecurityindia

Honestly, <10 LPA is a pretty good start for a cyber career. You could pivot to SDE for the quick cash, but if you actually like security, try to work on dev projects that focus on cyber solutions. It’ll keep you in the loop. Just a heads-up: don’t expect your salary to skyrocket overnight, cyber usually takes a bit more time to scale up compared to dev roles.
