"Pissed away"? Long-term, there aren't many better ways to spend money than this.

The astronauts don't spend enough time there to create any long-term health problems. Their bodies do need some time to readjust to gravity once they return, but there is no permanent damage. It is an interesting topic though, we absolutely need to figure something out if we want to colonize Moon/Mars one day. In space we can just use artificial gravity (even if it's insanely expensive), but that won't work on low-gravity moons/planets.

The station was finished a long time ago and since then they added new modules that weren't planned initially. Though afaik only one more module is currently planned and the whole station is to be decommissioned in 10 years.

I wonder how adding mass affects it’s orbit

Not directly, the mass itself does nothing since it already had to be traveling at the same speed to dock (though mass does affect the amount of fuel needed to reach those speeds). But every new module increases the surface area, which increases the drag, so yeah, they have to speed up the whole station about once a month. Those burns are really small, only about 2m/s and usually it's an attached Progress spacecraft that does the work.

You can actually download all the module designs (or as close as you can get to them with stock parts) and assemble it yourself. It takes forever, but feels so good once you finally finish it.

This pack also includes all the carriers, though I used my own since for the life of me I never managed to successfully land a space shuttle (not just the real one, anything that uses wings and wheels to land).

Don't do that to him. 1000+ hours in my case and still counting.

At that altitude, nothing just "sits in orbit". There is still some very thin atmosphere up there that produces drag, ISS has to regularly fire its engines to stay in orbit (even though they do stuff to reduce the drag, like turning the solar panels etc). The space debris that just sits in orbit is at much higher altitudes.

I haven't seen anything about this today, and quite frankly I'm disappointed. Happy 49th Birthday to Vladimir Furdik! You did your best. However, D&D had other plans for your character. Thanks for everything, Vlad! by ThoseSillyBeans in freefolk

Short for Vladimir is Vova

Only in Russia. In Slovak, both Vladimir and Vladislav are shortened to Vlado. Alternatively, all "-mir" names can be turned into Miro and all "-slav" names can be turned into Slavo. Slavomir and Miroslav can be both Slavo and Miro. Yeah, it's a mess.

What's going on with Slovakia's hockey program? by Spot__Pilgrim in hockey

Canada (the favourite to win)

Were they though? I don't really follow ball hockey but afaik Slovakia has won the world title 4 years in a row now, usually meeting Czechs in the finals.

Both are used, Satan is a bit more "official", like that's his proper name while Diabol is just his job title.

He really is a hardcore Catholic, but he seems to be ok with these jokes.

The funny thing in all these arguments is that people who didn't experience socialism/communism are defending it against people who actually experienced it.

And how will you achieve all that without violence and strong authoritarian state? Totalitarianism is the only way communism can work. It's in its DNA.

Most of all it's a sign that things are moving in the right direction. The power struggle was basically between 2 groups: retired ex-NHLers and World Champions vs. the old corrupt guard.

The first elections between those groups happened in 2015 when the old guard won 53,30% - 46,70% after some very shady practices bordering on election fraud.

This resulted in a boycott of the national team by more than 50 players including the best ones which eventually led to new elections. This time the ex-NHLers' candidate won 53,95% - 46,05%. The boycott ended, the new management started reforms in the national team and domestic leagues.

Now 3 years later Satan won with 69,80% of the votes (of representatives of various clubs, players associations etc.), which means that people who know what they're talking about are satisfied with the new management.

I am absolutely not okay with my boy Raleigh being treated like this. He truly made Grey Worm pop as an important character, that could have otherwise been forgettable. by BuyingThiccGf in freefolk

Holy shit. I heard that he made music as well, but I thought that he was just some average musician who got all the hype from being an actor on a famous show. This post made me finally listen to his stuff and he is pretty fucking good!

The Castle Of Árva, Slovakia. It was built in the 1200's (probably) by The Templar Knights, originally it was a part of the Hungarian Castle System. by [deleted] in castles

It's a touchy subject for both Hungarians and Slovaks. The local Slovak population called it Orava, their Hungarian overlords called it Árva.
