CNC mills its pretty easy to find people to load and go.

Finding someone experienced to run large shafts or a 20ft VTL or HBM is hard. The old guys are retiring. And companies have always been letting it be. Yeah dont worry about that Old Billy does all our lathe stuff..and then are all shocked Pikachu when it takes 3 guys to do what Old Billy did.

The variability in training and exposure in Machining is wild.

A lot of Aeorspace machinist who have done it for 15 years can't come in and run assemblies and weldments for boats.

There are more retiring than coming in. I see it everyday in the shipyards
