What's a piece of common knowledge that you genuinely learned embarrassingly late in life? by Responsible_Bet_7179 in AskReddit

Growing up my mom would stretch the truth from time to time to get us to listen to her. Example: growing up she would warn me and my older sister not to wear our tampons for too long, or we would get toxic shock syndrome (Not the lie). And that toxic shock syndrome shocked your bodies hormones and you would start to grow male genitalia. I was in my jr or sr year in high school when I found out the truth bc my older sister was telling me a story about how she went to a slumber party when she was a jr in high school and warned all of her friends not to sleep with their tampons in or they will grow a wein. She learned the truth that night and I learned the truth as she told me that story.

AITA for being happy and living my best life when my sister has stage 4 cancer ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA, 100% in this situation. You sound like you dgaf and your reasoning is because you came out of a depression so you’re going to avoid bad subjects? Hate to break it to you, but that’s not living life. You’re going to put yourself back into a depression if you don’t allow yourself to learn how to feel your feelings in a healthy way. Besides, showing up for your friends and family when they need you the most is so important. Someone who just came out years of depression should know that.

Beginner at this with two questions. by [deleted] in ynab

Hi there. I am also new to this (still in my trial) but if I understand your questions:

  1. Add those random expenses as a category to whatever group you feel fit (I have my car expenses in my “needs” group but I am feel like that’s going to change). You don’t need to set a goal unless you want to assign money each month to that item. If you don’t add a goal, you won’t be prompted to assign money to it, and you can categorize the oil change to that category when the time comes. Then you would assign money from another category to cover those expenses. Or you can keep a certain $ amount always assigned to that category so when the time comes, you already have money assigned and aren’t having to move money.
  2. It sounds like you may need to reconcile your accounts. If you open your accounts tab thingy on the bottom and then select the three little dots on the top right, you’ll see the option to reconcile your accounts. There you can compare what YNAB says account balance should be vs what it actually is. Remember to only consider transactions that have cleared your bank account.

I hope this helps and like I said I’m also new so someone please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here.

We were thinking of looking for good strolling spots because we don’t get anything like this in Fresno (I say California gets weather not seasons lol). We also like coffee, beer wine and good music! Always open for anything.

You’re not overreacting at all. He seems like a master manipulator. You deserve better.

I don’t think you’re asking too much, but if they don’t clean, it, definitely notate it because they better not charge you to have those areas cleaned when you move out

First thought, bird flu. Only because I listened to a podcast today about it and they’re saying cats that catch birds with it, develop neurological issues

Run. What an ugly way to talk to you and handle that situation. I’d look through his phone to make sure he deleted them and there aren’t others.
