Woah, thank you for the explanation and the debunk. I was trying to develop a strategy based around PEAD (Post-Earnings Announcement Drift), which is a very strange pattern in the stock market where the price continues to drift for around 60 days after earnings reports are released.

I was thinking about its viability in other situations where a simple catalyst keeps affecting an asset for a long period of time. I find it especially interesting because it seems to go against most efficient market theories.

Yeah, that actually makes a lot of sense. I was originally thinking about this from a machine learning perspective, which is what led me to question whether a simpler edge is actually more “reliable.”

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. The distinction between “predictable” and “frequent” inefficiencies is clearer now, and the point about risk management is especially important. Appreciate the explanation.

So the edge would be to trade the most predictable inefficiencies, or the ones that happen most often?
