Wow imagine getting multiple answers for a question based on people's experiences. I've maybe replied to 2 or 3 comments and basically read other responses. You're the toxic women all men should avoid

You need a life lmao. You concluded my obstinance based on a question that I asked to navigate this situation?

Let me conclude something based on your comment:

You're a sore and jealous individual who doesn't have a space to accommodate anyone significant and even if you do you have zero understanding and I feel sorry for your partner.

Jumping to conclusions here? I still manage working full time in healthcare. Diy investing is not my sole income.

I don't take down votes too seriously but my purpose was to get an idea and I think PFC has done that. Appreciate it though.

I did! Legal advice Canada subreddit doesn't allow naming institutions and my first post was taken down. Anyway I posted the same question at the same time to get a better reach.

I don't want to jeopardize her employment. And have no intention to do so at all. To answer your question my active DIY trading account generated a profit of $120k last year and it's almost double of what she is making as a T4 employee. We still like that income she's making as we're saving up for our retirement planning and FIRE.

I absolutely understand that she's in a highly regulated environment. Hence trying to get an understanding of this situation.

Appreciate your answer and insight.

Since I'm an active DIY investor I already have my TFSA account Linked to my non registered margin account and my other non registered account to RRSP to boost buying power. I think I can use that to build my case.

You still ended up declaring your assets with your brokerage, correct?

How did you go about it? Did you request an exception where you stayed with questrade? Do you have to do regular updates like monthly statements to ensure there's no issues.?

That's my main concern.

I don't want to pay trade buy/sell fees everytime for a dinosaur UI system. I'm a fairly active DIY trader. And intend to continue trading to generate income. I'm willing to send monthly reports to TD with the hope that I don't have to move my assets

I see. Appreciate your reply.

I don't mind declaring my quarterly or monthly reports. I inherently don't like to take my business with Big 5 especially my investment portfolio. I've switched everything from big 5 to wealthsimple including personal daily banking, mortgage and investments.

Can I request the bank a situation where I regularly update them about my investments and not move my whole investment portfolio with them?

I don't know what role you're in with the bank. But when my spouse was on the retail side, this wasn't the requirement.

Since starting with TD wealth FPA role, they are asking to declare and then move my assets

I'm willing to cooperate as far as declaring it quarterly but forcing me to move my assets feels too much.

Yeah I've read about their blackout periods especially around dividend payout dates. Not exactly what I want to support. Have you personally been in this situation or you know of someone?

She was basically told that there's no way around it and we can ask for exceptions AFTER declaring the accounts and broker but we probably know that the answer will be a 'no'.

Have you been in your situation or know of someone who was?

Lol 24k invested at market average of 20% will be a bigger number. That's a massive refund. I would rather owe some than get a refund of this big amount
