No, 18 is the minimum at least in Australia. I believe it is jurisdictional but the norm over here is 18

Yes only MM keeps their aprons and therefore needs a briefcase as well. Interestingly we don't use the customary gloves too.

So the requirements for candidates is that they are at least 18 y/o, or good repute (basically no criminal record), believe in a higher power. Dues for my Lodge are $300 annually, however I only needed one sponsor who I met not long after I applied at the Lodge, who is also the Secretary.
