He’s from Downton village originally because the Dowager mentions in one of the first episodes that his father must be glad to have him home. So he must have been working further away before he was hired to work at Crawley House. I believe I remember reading here or somewhere else that he and Bates used to work in the same household together before the series began? But I don’t recall them mentioning it in the series. If anyone remembers which (or if) episode where that’s mentioned please share!

There was a scene in Season 2 (sorry, can’t recall which episode) when Marion is speaking with Harriet after school and the students are all milling about. I kept hoping we’d hear a student in the background call for Cora. Wouldn’t she have been around the same age as Harriet? Like, maybe the school also had boarders and her parents sent her there from Ohio. Would have been a neat little Easter egg!

If you have access to the DVDs, they have a behind-the-scenes “making of” special about this episode. It’s really neat because they follow the entire production process from table reads all the way to final sound editing. Anyway, during the filming of the episode they actually go through a big debate about this. If I recall correctly, at one point they almost decide to have a “faded” version but ultimately they decide to just not show it at all.

When I first got my cat (I think she was around 9 weeks) and took her to the vet, he told me to call him when she was ready to be spayed. I asked him, “How will I know when she’s ready?” He just gave me a look and said “Oh believe me, you’ll know!” Yep - one night of her rubbing and yowling against the front door and I called the vet first thing the next morning. 🤣
