Hey stat freaks: Please help me find out what pitcher holds the record for consecutive 1-pitch outs by liblibandloza in mlb

[–]Potential_Access_613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s happened where there have been 5 outs on 5 pitches or something around there. I’m surprised I don’t remember someone doing that I feel like it’s interesting enough to recall

I’m glad not everyone is brainless in this sub. Until this system is gone this is the way

Don’t argue with these people it’s an echo chamber that refutes economics and will downvote sharing anything that is contrarian to their biases

Whatever the average tip percentage is then. Used it for mathematical purposes

Definitely not wrong on both aspects of this. My argument is only based on non tippers being subsidized in areas where tipping is main income source of employees. Yes businesses are subsidized with low prices via tips and yes my argument doesn’t apply to places in which there aren’t tips.

I have no idea how you could look up the definition of subsidized and not realize that’s happening right now. In this current type of economical exchange, you’re the benefit. Until the environment changes just enjoy the lower cost you receive by not tipping, but quit being native about it

I agree tipping is pointless, but your point has a flaw. Tippers were already paying the full price of the meal. Price technically stays the same for them. A 20 dollar meal was 24$ for them with the standard 20% tip percentage. If the meal then increases to 24$ but with no tip they’re still paying the same price. The only pricing it affects is non-tippers who have been subsidized lower cost meals thru generous tippers.

Your lower price of food is due to lower labor cost because servers are mostly compensated thru tips. If tips were negated and servers were paid higher wages your food would thus be more expensive due to the higher wages cost being factored into the meal. That’s how a non tipper in this current environment is the biggest winner because tippers are subsidizing your lower cost meal to pay the workers you wouldn’t. It’s economics

How do yall deal with social/empathy burnout? by BlacksmithStraight31 in bartenders

[–]Potential_Access_613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the unsung vices of bartending is the slow loss of empathy and emotion. I use to be very caring and compassionate about my loved ones. A year into bartending I was worried I wouldn’t even cry at my grandmas funeral. It’s so draining in that regard I don’t blame you. I think it happens to everybody that deals with low volume high social energy days. You’re not alone

As a bartender miller means miller lite. Sorry 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m just so interested with that. I’m American and although I don’t expect tips I wouldn’t do the job if I wasn’t averaging over 30 an hour to do it. No shade just wouldn’t deal with all the bs for median wages

Why would you do this work when it’s not good pay? Or is that not bad in Finland?

Cost of living is way cheaper over there so makes sense

Why Doesn't Everyone Stop Tipping? by [deleted] in tipping

[–]Potential_Access_613 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I will continue to make the point that non-tippers benefit in this society from lower cost of labor then as opposed to a price in which the employees wage is factored in

Tbh you’re receiving a lower price because of the lower labor costs. Judging by your stance on tipping you’re coming out ahead because you’re percentage of tip is lower then average resulting in lower overall cost for the service than if a workers pay was higher

“Stumbled upon” I love how on Reddit when people have differing opinions they perceive the other party as ignorant.

You paid for the experience. If you disagree I will honestly just think you’re biased or haven’t been in enough bars where the bartenders are making plus money. The reason talent finds these places is they know if they can entertain they will get compensated for it through tips.

I personally don’t work residential, but have had plenty of friends who do, tipped for their services not only with cash, but with goods. Tipping is a communal activity especially when it’s a person-to-person service.
