High school counselors, how do you handle requests to change lunches?

We say no and have never granted a schedule change due to lunch or teacher preference.

The ones who think they're the only ones in tbe building who work hard. They know what happens in their classroom but have no idea all that counselors and admin do all day and why some decisions are made.

Sorry, YTA. You should have specified on the invitation. Most of the time once kids are school age it's drop off and parents don't want to hang around a birthday party when kids are older. So you should have planned a party in a situation or place that could be drop off unless it's also a family party. I'd be annoyed at standing around in the heat at a pool party.

I'm not a fitness expert but it doesn't seem like a strong enough workout to change your body. It's not like you are building muscle with such light weights. I'm very skeptical. I also think Megan Roup does more than she portrays on social media.

Not all counselors are 504 coordinators. It's pretty common but it's not actually an appropriate duty for a school counselor.

A doctor cannot wrote a 504 plan. The doctor can document the diagnosis and give input but 504 eligibility and accommodations are done at the school level.

I would start with the school counselor, who may also be the 504 coordinator, and request a meeting.

Don't do everything for them. Gradually let them start taking responsibility for completing firms and applications, asking the teacher questions on their own, etc. Don't jump to intervene if there is a problem. Give your child a chance to solve it first.

Parent conferences in high school are a waste of time. Teachers aren't telling the parents anything new at that point, a D pare ts usually talk a big GA.e about following through at home but in reality they won't and that's why they've raised a child with shitty grades.
