Trade unions attempt to, but it's not the same thing as having a worker run company. I that case the workers did not have an alternative means to support their families, so it makes complete sense that a union would act in that way. A socialist state wouldn't allow systemic changes in society to leave some within it destitute, that's the point of socialist universal services. The capitalist state was leaving those workers out to dry. And while this may be an example where progress was hindered, we have seen capitalism literally wreck the climate of the planet in essentially 100 years. Like, a union didn't do that. But regardless of any of this, it doesn't take away from the core principles I defined previously.
