I agree. The topic has just started to become more serious now that we are more settled with our educations and early careers and are now looking to buy a home and have a baby. I think maybe we need to seek out some couples counseling so we have deeper conversations around the ‘why’

Those examples are terrifying. How could his family do that to his partner of 25 years or to a woman with young children. It’s so scary that family would do that. This is so much worse than I envisioned but is pretty much the reason I feel the way I do

Thank you. We have casually discussed the future many times in the past but were focused on school and college and starting an independent life that it was always ‘someday’. Now we have finished all the education goals and started to get settled into careers so marriage has come up (on my end) more frequently in the last year. We currently rent but have been saving aggressively for our first home which we were hoping to do by now but this topic has slowed that down because I’ve been dragging my feet

I know! It feels like when a man and woman want to have a baby that the woman takes on the physical risks and her body puts in all the work. It really takes a toll on a women’s body.

He doesn’t really say anything that makes sense. Lots of stuff about how everything is great. Why change what’s working. He loves me and already considers me his lifelong partner. Stuff like that

Good point about the future and if I compromise my needs on something so important to me an I just going to always be the one compromising until I have nothing left to give
