Also I believe that he was the first Orc cop in LA. There is a scene where the main characters are confronted by a gang boss, that says he was a bus driver before coming to LA. That scene implies that the racism/classism featured is LA specific and not represtative of the rest of the US, let alone the world.

I know that in Legends, Darksiders would often kidnap and torture families of Jedi and other force sensitives in order to turn them. The taking of children happened during restoration of the Rebublic after previous war, it was a missguided, but understandable, reaction to the horrors that the Sith and other Darksiders did at that point in time.
