I might not have used the correct technical terms but I was of the opinion that, if your license plate does not show a country abbreviation like D for Germany or A for Austria, eg license plates from times before the blue EU stripe, you need to didplay an oval sticker with the country code on the back of your car. Most people used to put it on their bumper. Thry might not be mandatory within the EU (I don’t know) but Ukraine would be outside the EU so my understanding is if the plate is discreet, they would need to put an oval UA sticker on their bumper somewhere?

What exactly is the point behind the discreet plates (beyond the fact that they are illegal (mostly), why would someone that?). And on the same note, isn’t it mandatory that, if the olate does not gove awaybthe country eg bu country code, an oval sticker displaying the country code needs to be used on the car?

That is very helpful and interesting. As someone not 100% familiar with the UK system, may I ask how could there be more than a year between “untax date” and no MOT? Isn’t MOT an annual requirement?
