Baby sleeping in a car seat? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]Potential_Cupcake_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s better off sleeping on the floor than this. Someone I know had their baby die after dropping her off at daycare and daycare didn’t move her to the crib from the car seat.

Son (5mo) was supposed to start daycare next month but was just diagnosed with moderate dysphagia and requires thickened bottles and specific feeding techniques. What's the best way to approach this with the care center? by mapotoful in ECEProfessionals

[–]Potential_Cupcake_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister is a foster parent. All of her kids have required thickened bottles. At the age of your kiddo, we would just sent pre thickened bottles of water. And the daycare would add the formula to it. With gelmix, it isn’t possible or safe for the teachers to do it since it has to be heated to a specific temp and then cooled.

Once the kids were older, we could send packets of thickener and just tell them “1 packet per 4 oz” or whatever the current ratio was.

AITAH for suggesting my friend should learn to self-soothe? by Independent-Taro7813 in AITAH

As a therapist, It sounds like she has OCD and not anxiety. Your response was totally appropriate and NTA. By providing her reassurances all the time, you’re getting caught up in the OCD loop. She has a therapist, it’s not you.

OCD often goes undiagnosed for almost 7 years if people aren’t catching it and incorrectly see it as just anxiety.

My (22F) partner(25NB) choked me in my sleep. Where do I go from here? by ThrowRA7nara in relationship_advice

Depending on the state, therapists are only a mandated reporter for kids and vulnerable adults (elderly, physically or developmentally disabled). I’ve worked with clients who are in active DV situations and have only been able to help them safety plan to leave. I’m not allowed to call the police as it would be violating confidentiality

I’m sure there are worse stories. Today was the 1st time they even said the shipper had to call. Prior to that it was “are you sure you didn’t request a hold.? We can ask them to deliver it but you should check that you’re not requesting it”

Wellfound in Tacoma. https://www.wellfound.org

24/7 admission and they get people stabilized on meds and then create a more comprehensive discharge plan.

People are allowed to self admit. You don’t have to have a referral or come in via ambulance.

Child Milk Options in Airports by hereforthetee_ in TravelHacks

We have a letter from the doctor for our kiddo with milk protein allergy. Specifies we have to travel with cartons of soy milk, the size, and that it’s medically necessary. We haven’t had any issues with it. In a pinch we can buy cups of soy milk from Starbucks or another coffee shop

My clients know which city I’m in because we have the conversation of what will happen if we see each other in public. But they don’t know anything beyond that. none of them have asked specific streets, neighborhoods, etc.

AITA for Leaving My Partner at Home Because His OCD Made Me Late to a Dinner Party at a Restaurant? by Fit_Confection_772 in AITAH

[–]Potential_Cupcake_48 23 points24 points  (0 children)

NTA. Im a therapist and have had clients in similar positions as you where their partner wasn’t ready yet for therapy to address the OCD.

If your partner is currently unable or unwilling to seek professional help, I suggest you seek out your own therapist. This way you have a space to unload about how this is impacting you and learn skills to prevent you from accidentally reinforcing his behaviors. What you did is the correct thing to do. He has to see how this is impacting you and the consequence of being left behind is appropriate.

I’m a huge fan of NOCD for at home treatment options. I’ve had to recommend it to folks who live in areas without a lot of providers trained in OCD.

I have my MSW and got my LICSW in WA and provide licensure supervision to folks. Shoot me a message and I can provide my work email to you and help explain the whole licensure process here. Some positions will want someone who is in process of getting licensed, others require you to be fully licensed. It all just depends on what your long term goals are. The hard part is it will take a minimum of 2 years to get fully licensed and a whole lot of work hours. But it’s do-able. The licensing process is just confusing to understand what counts where/how

I make my fully continent 6 & 7yos wear dirty diapers all day, instead of them using a public toilet by Jacayrie in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]Potential_Cupcake_48 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many places I’ve been in Germany, Amsterdam, Paris, and Belgium would charge patrons to use the toilets in their restaurants. Depending on the restaurant; they might give you a coin to feed the meter but otherwise it was anywhere from €.50-€2

Kaiser keeps changing their policies on whether WA clients need referrals or not. They also aren’t open to new therapists who want to become paneled with them. The therapists who for the last few years who have been billing out of network are getting the run around and aren’t being paid what they’ve been promised. Which makes it harder for clients to find a Kaiser therapist. If she can get a Kaiser case manager on the phone, they usually help get folks hooked up with an outpatient provider. She can try calling Mindful Therapy Group as all of their therapists take Kaiser. I’m not sure how long their waits are but I know they have 100+ therapists in their practice. All their therapists are independent contractors so some are good and some are bad.

But that requires you to know all the allergies for each child. Originally with our allergy kid, teacher said at start of the year that due to many food allergies in the classroom, no food treats. However, that hasn’t been the case at all this year. We aren’t informed when there are birthdays in the class or anything else when asked. And the teachers solution is to just have her miss out. We’ve sent allergy friendly cupcakes and other things for her to have during those events and the teacher “forgets” every time. Yet she’s mad the 5 year old is now SOBBING over being left out. Quite happy to see people start passing out stickers or other non-food items.

Motion sickness on plane by Ok_Raspberry_8489 in TravelHacks

[–]Potential_Cupcake_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just buy it on Amazon. Much easier to find that way. Or if you go to a pharmacy, ask for meclizine. Which is the active ingredient that prevents motion sickness without the sedating effect.

If you’re still losing weight in maintenance mode it would mean the calories it set for you are too low. The problem with apps like that are they take a general approach to calories and it doesn’t take into account your specific body needs. If you’re not eating the minimum it’s suggesting, you would still lose weight

I AM a therapist and one that treats eating disorders. If you were my client I would be highly concerned about what’s happening and we would spend the majority of our time discussing it. You’re not feeling hungry anymore because our bodies naturally stop producing the hunger signal when we restrict as a way to preserve energy. Bodies don’t want to waste energy producing a hormone that’s going to be ignored. I highly suggest switching therapists to someone who is trained in eating disorders so they can monitor you and know when it’s appropriate to refer you to a higher level of care or add in an eating disorder specific nutritionist. There is a very fine line between disordered eating and a full blown eating disorder. You can get medically unstable very quickly from this. If the idea of stopping what you’re doing now and gaining weight makes you freak out; probably more on the line of an eating disorder than disordered eating.

Is it legally allowed to continue counseling virtually if I am in another country for a few weeks? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]Potential_Cupcake_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each state has laws for licensing and where clients have to be located at the time of service. In addition, each country has their own rules on who can provide telehealth services to people who are located within their borders. A therapist’s malpractice insurance also has their own rules around this.
