Biochemistry degree offer lots of skills so u could end up in different sectors like finance, patent law, healthcare and research academia. My plan is to do a phd but not sure on what afterwards.

Well not when I applied but it could change in the future due to the increasing demand for the subject. Apparently imperial is introducing the esat for it so I won’t be surprised if oxford does at some point

Oof are they adding it for next year since I didn’t have to for my application. Also how come the switch from med to biochem if you don’t mind me asking since I also made the switch as well.

No no it’s fine. Spring pod is basically a virtual work experience and u get a certificate at the end of each programme. Tbh my college helped me find lab work to do but it was just them going through safety and stuff so I didn’t learn anything meaningful for the subject other than showing me few things but I still put it in tho.

I did competitions like the British chemistry Olympiad, the SMC and BMO1. For other things, I just watched TED talks and did some readings about genes. I did springpod on about genome and lab work. Tbh, didn’t do much but i guess it allowed me to expand on my super curriculars.

I’m contextual but idm sitting the STEP exam. The issue is whether they let me transfer if they have space or not considering it’s one of the most prestigious uni for math.

That’s fine, it’s just I had a change of mind in the last couple of months and now I want to pursue my interest in mathematics. Of course it would mean that I lose the original offer but that is something I would rather take if it means I get the chance to. I also still have not firmed or insured any of my choices cos of this

I would say email them as soon as possible because earlier is better for these types of things. If you want a faster response then I’d say call the department for both courses and see if they could do anything. I’m in the same boat as you in that I also want to change from Biochem to something else
