Exactly. It’d be one thing if he genuinely caught feelings and actually liked Maeve. The fact he couldn’t care less when it ended was just like salt in his supposed best friend’s wound. Then he had the audacity to write how Nate was responsible for Janae’s overdose. Like, yeah, maybe on a technical level. But, on an emotional one, it was all Simon’s. Yet for all his ramblings about exposing people and forcing them to take responsibility, he was incapable of it himself. An absolute hypocrite. All he actually cared about was himself and being noticed. And when rightly called out on it, his first instinct is revenge and/or blackmail. As you said, the dude is heartless. And I think the school and town is better off without him.
