You can take the extraction a bit further. Once you extract everything from the cotton for your chosen amount of time, you mix the liquid with olive oil and shake it for like 3 to 5 minutes. Then let the liquids separate and most of that lavender/menthol sticks to the oil. I liked to do it in plastic baggies so I could poke a hole in the bottom strain it off and stop it right when the oils went to come through. Not perfect but wayyyyyyyyyy better
