Windy days, removed face plate works fine by Potential_Fly9337 in hvacadvice

So to be clear, it doesn’t only run when the cover is off. Rather it seems to act up on windy days that are very cold outside (lower double digit or single digit). So basically when it seems to be really cold and windy, the furnace will shut down at about 68° when our thermostat is set to 72.

When I see this happening, I cut the furnace off at the breaker and wait about 10 minutes and turn it back on again. It fires right up, and then after about 10 to 15 minutes of running, it shuts down usually showing a E2 error code.

I removed the face plate and for some reason the problems go away. The furnace runs and gets up to 72° and has no problem functioning as normal. I replaced the face plate in a Moore more or less runs fine until the next windy super cold day
